We each have our opinion of what is "nasty". I'm pretty sure your ancestors lived in the country "before" the city's were born.

I am actually wanting to know more about this. The people that own the farm across the road from my parents have NO respect for the people who live down here. Every year they get like 3 or 4 loads of chicken manure and have it dumped right over the fence at the road. This draws rats (big ones) to my parents house. And the manure sometimes sits there in a pile for several months. And opening a window is a BIG no no!

You apparently haven't learned to write a sentence either. The country schools must not teach grammar.
Oh an P.S.
People who use words like queer are usually homophobes and homophobes usually have gay tendencies.
Next time you decide to use words that have no context in a conversation, remember people may think you are the "queer" because your trying to cover-up the fact that you yourself are gay!
Take a while and think about. Maybe watch some man-on-man porn. Its better to come out of the closet then fall out of it!
Your right I don't wright very good and don't care. And the reason I said he was queer is on the other form. Why don't you look smart ass and I am not gay and have never been thought of as gay big mouth. So go straight to hell!! Mind your own business!!

Who lived there first? The farmer or your parents? It matters because if your parents moved in AFTER the farm was established, they should have expected a bit of "natural" fertilizer smells--again just a small part of living in the country. If your parents were there first and the area is zoned as residential, then the problem would be one for the courts I would think.

As far as any alleged rats, call the Health Department.

I have lived on a farm all my life and have shared with my husband in operating around 800 acres, owned and leased. Farmers feed us cheaply not the corporations who keep taking over the farmland and controlling food prices more everyday--just like gas prices. I'd rather live with my windows shut for a few days and have a choice on whether I wanted fresh produce or the "organic" stuff that is over priced for the taste.

Actually, my parents lived there first. And the health Department has already told these people two years in a row to not dump it. They were told to spread it as soon as they got it. And the rats probably have nothing to do with the manure...but that is the only time we have ever seen rats (is when the manure was in pile across the road). I think it's the smell that draws them. And of course..I know they don't eat manure. Thanks!

hello,

I have lived in the country all my life; and I have to say I have never gotten sick because of fertilizer. I am all for farmers making a living and finding cheaper ways to grow better crops. that being said.... We have spent most of this year sick at our stomachs because there is a farmer who owns the land all around us and when he is not spreading liquid cow manure around he is spreading chichen shit... now in this chicken shit there are also alot dead chickens. My dog has been caught with several of these in her mouth. and yes they come from the piles of chicken shit that our neighbor has dump very close to our home... I was also reading up on chicken shit and it has been found to carry bird flu.. which has killed people. It is found that chicken shit is one of the main carriers of this disease. so yes I am concerned.. and Yes I am concerned... so if anybody on this board is one of these farmers you guys need to have a little common sense.. and consider the people YOUR NEIGHBORS who have to deal with these dead chickens and chicken shit...

The thing about our neighbor who spreads acres of chicken crap around our house... well he doesn't live close to the fields he is spreading this shit on. which his land surrounds all four sides of our one acre lot.. and he has about 70 acres which is covered with chicken shit... We can forget about inviting company over... it is like going to an outdoor port a potty that hasn't been cleaned out in over a month... and not having not one dead animal dead laying on the roadside but acres and acres of dead chickens... Now has anyone ever taken the fat off a chicken before you cooked it and left a little bit of the fat in the drain due to washing off the chicken before you cook it.. well imagine thousands of dead chickens chopped up and spread over 70 acres around your home... Yes it is that bad... and this can't be health for adults and children to put up with for not only a few days but more like months.. and our neighbor is one of those guys that if you do anything that he doesn't like. Well he is the first one to let you know about it.. I just dare him to say anything to me about anything he will get more than he bargan for... I still trying to figure out a way to stop this... Oh and lets not for get about the chicken shit that is all over the road way and now all over our cars and trucks... and also crusting all over our house because the wind blows and shit flows... so the smell of dead chickens and chicken shit goes where my family goes... but this is ok because he is a farmer trying to make a living... BULL SHIT

It seems that some of you might not realize that YOUR the ones not wanted, the easiest way to get rid of a bad neighbor is to set up a hog lot right on your property line.

One should not live in the country unless they are willing to accept farm ways and spreading chicken s**t is something that has been going on for years.

If he spreading 70 acres, then one would wonder just how many chiclen he has?

Today I smelled it but I just figured it all had to do with farming and today was a good day to have the AC on anyways but if it had not been I just would of said "well if I was a farmer" then it would be all about the farming. LOL
Can't say I like to smell it but "That's life".
