We have a great Boys Basketball team, and our Cheerleaders cant even do tosses or pyramids. Wow we should just let the Rebels Cheer at our basketball games. They actually look like a Championship Cheer Squad. Lets get those coaches as a head coach for our Cheerleaders. Maybe the cheerleaders need to do more camps and if they need to raise money then get out in the town and raise money by having more car washes, bake sales or something so you all can learn what the Rebel Cheerleaders Learn.

Yes I agree with you Shelly. These cheerleaders need to learn how to do tosses and everything. They also need to clean up and not look so down all during the game. Our Guys basketball team are in the Regionals and need all of us cheering for them. So Clean up girls look your best and start chanting and getting the crowd into it even more.

There were no cheerleaders, shoot hardly even any students at all cheering the soccer team and they managed to secure a regional title.

Obviously cheerleading has changed over the years. I still believe that cheerleading is all about leading cheers not having individual gymnastic demonstrations and group stunts that detract from the athletic event.

I think the concept of cheerleading with crowd involvement was at its best in the 1960s at the old gymnasium. When did it become expected to flip a small girl three stories into the air? And to cartwheel the length of the court? We did fine with five cheerleaders who went through a routine of leading cheers without having to build a pyramid and do double ass-busters to please the crowd.

If Greensburg High School never wins a cheerleading contest, then that's just fine. It was intended for morale purposes ... NOT competition.

While I'm on a roll, why does every high school pep band play "Smoke on the Water?" Why don't band directors have them play things that young people relate to ... instead of music that people in their mid-fifties listened to?

Lastly, why only a small pep band? Does anyone remember that the whole band used to enter the gymnasium in single file, through a single door, across the end of the basketball court, and up the bleachers to their assigned seat? THAT was the event to start events for the varsity game. It was noisy and FUN.

Really? Who cares if the cheerleaders do pyramids and bullshit. They're there supporting their team as best as they can. So what if they any do fancy stunts. Not all their parents had the money to send them to the damn gymnastics studio. For real? Grow up, get a life and stop butting in places where your 30 year old washed up ass shouldn't be. And yes the band is small. I do agree that it shoul be the whole band but kids are going to do what they want to do. So if someone didn't want to show up then they wouldn't. It's hard for a teacher to care when the students don't care. The band director has done the best he can. I really do wish we had a larger pep band.

Our pep band never plays smoke on the water considering we dont even have the piece. And band is not the only activity band students are in. What you see at a game is ninety percent of the band if not more.

It's hard to be excited when you're beating almost every team you play by 30 points.

I didn't post that Jeff. I have never taken credit for the sectional and regional victories, credit has always been given to the team.

When are you going to learn I am not posting using other names? I am not afraid of Bullwinkle Jeff Martin or Johannigman so I will use my own account and I am accountable for what I post.

We had a great crowd at all the Batesville sectional games and at Regional's. Many many former players returned and watched the team during sectionals and regional's. I was proud of the community and school support and had no complaints.

Supporters were lined up on the side of the road to see the team off. The team was escorted in and out of town. It was a wonderful experience and the boys enjoyed it immensely.

I don't know anything about the cheerleaders or cheer-leading so I don't have an opinion on that subject. Coach Cochran, Rivera and I were all focused on the games during the sectional's and regional's games and we were not focused on the student or cheer sections.

It used to be a practice that as a school kept winning, a member of the losing team's cheerleading squad would join the winner's for succeeding games. It was a gesture of gamesmanship to support one's victor. And since the schools usually faced the same competitors each year in the sectional, it was neighborly.

Why not revive an old tradition and ask a member of South Dearborn, Batesville and Madison to join the Pirate squad this Saturday? Those are Greensburg's neighbors. There will be a time that others could ask Greensburg for the same neighborly support.

Pep band is no longer a club. Attendance at the games is mandatory and is part of our grade for band. I'd be OK with that, if the athletes were also required to attend our band concerts. Just saying...

There are only 12 cheerleaders allowed at post season games. Our whole squad can't even cheer.
