This is the VIDEO and the AGENDA of the Greensburg IN City Council meeting of 5-6-13.

NOTE: On the sign ordinance a council member asks the Director of the Chamber his thoughts on a discussion they were having on the sign ordinance. The director suggested that they also ask Sean Greens viewpoint as he was sitting in the audience.
Sean is a professional in the sign business and has spent endless hours assisting with the construction of the ordinance. I was thinking the same thing that the Chamber Director suggested. No one asked Sean Green his viewpoint and they passed the ordinance on the final reading. After they did so...Sean held up his hand and made two observations that it is obvious should have been considered before the ordinance was finalized. Why did no one take the suggestion of the Chamber Director after they asked him for his opinion?

NOTE: I would suggest that everyone listen to the discussion on the Grass Cutting Ordinance presented by Mark Klosterkemper and Mayor Herbert in part 3 of the video. Jamie Cain asks a question and makes a comment and the reaction to him doing so is totally inappropriate . No one may agree with me..but I think the best decisions always come from discussion. While I will admit that I did not agree with Jamie's viewpoint on the issue being discussed, there is also appropriate conduct when we agree to disagree. Leadership roles are just that and should be conducted in a spirit of the same.

Don't they deserve that since you have used city parking spaces for your business for many years?

You didn't want to buy the parking lot behind your business so you could own and pay for a parking lot like other businesses have to do. Elitists love their perks.

this City Administration needs to get a "plan" for the downtown. Our forefathers saw the need to PRESERVE parking areas in order to PRESERVE this business district and to PRESERVE the Historic area and to PRESERVE this public gathering place for the taxpayers.

I was under the impression that this administration (because they voted it into existence) that they wanted to create and preserve a Historic district.....

are they yet again just wasting our money? or are they serious about it?

This is not JUST a business district either as is witnessed by the many functions that take place in this area..... it is a public gathering space.

The forefathers you mention gave you an entitlement that you are unwilling to give up. If you purchased the parking lot behind your store, you could control your own destiny, but you would have to pay to maintain it, plow it, and pay taxes on it like the rest of the businesses in the community outside of the square.

Business is business, be it a paint store, restaurant or bar. Cry me a river. To follow your thought processes, I see the recent developments downtown as a sign of God's intervention giving you what you deserve. Karma.

Yes, you would paint it that way.

How about the public in general who uses the downtown area as a meeting place?

Would you rather the square be vacant of businesses and building owners so it all goes to disrepair and falls back on the taxpayers?

Apparently so.

Whether you like it or not this is a grandfathered area and the ordinance is in place because our forefathers were thinking of the big picture and put it in place for the protection of a Historic area that they "valued".

Parking in this area according to this ordinance should not be sold. And if it is the ordinance states that it has to be replaced with a like number of spaces which is not easy to come by in a grandfathered historic area.

Leasing parking spaces that belong to the public in general for the revitalization of the area defeats the goal of trying to "revitalize" the downtown.

Why do a comprehensive structural study as a priority?

If we cannot learn from our past history perhaps we can learn from what is happening elsewhere?

Authorities are searching the rubble of a collapsed a four-story building in central Philadelphia where at least one person was killed and 13 people were injured this morning.

At least 13 people have been transported to hospitals with minor injuries, according to authorities.

ABC News affiliate WPVI reported one fatality -- a 35-year-old woman -- who died from the collapse.

Authorities moved more bodies from the rubble tonight, WPVI reported.

Fire commissioner Lloyd Ayers said this afternoon that emergency workers will continue searching for victims buried in the debris by using two police dogs to trace human smells and additional workers to sift through the pile of rubble.
