All they would tell me was that there were several positions open. And the drive did suck without knowing, however I figured why not. That's the rub, you want the job and they know it. I haven't heard of any other orientations, but then again it's not like they give out a whole lot of info. That's all I know.:)
Well, how were your first few days ? Did you find out any valuable info for all of us waiting for that phone call lol ? Thanks !

<quoted text>i know how you feel. i was in your shoes once and it was frustrating to see people get hired and then this forum went silent. but seriously, theres still hope. and i will continue to hope and pray for you. the benefits are great, the pay is great, and alot of the process u have to learn is hard(probably depends on where they assign you. honestly it can be a bit stressful and times, but hasnt this whole process been frustrating lol?? i really really hope you get "the call". will post again soon

^^^^Those were words from Green^^^^

Green used to be on the left-behinders side. Now Green has gone to the DARK SIDE and has become one of them….. Silent.

It’s almost as if people just fall into a worm hole and disappear from this dreaded forum.
How could this Green character so full of prayer giving…. become one of them! Scaryyy…Woooooohhhhhh

Could a current Honda worker describe how the swing shift is working out? What are the average hours and days you have been working? Also, when working first shift do you ever get weekends off? Thanks in advance for info.

Lets see if I can give any info. Applied to Honda in May 2011, i got called for an interview but was unable to make my appointment at that time, so i couldn't reschedule. any way I decided to go through a temp service, first time I've used one but was hired as a temp right away in October. honda was in the process of starting the swing shift. Do I like the shift no. It is very hard to plan anything.I've done this type of work before. The plant is very unorganized. I'm not impressed at all with the supposed high quality and efficiency of japanese mfg.
It doesn't exist. The work at least what i'm doing is hard on the body walking and bending constantly, they have no clue of ergonomics. or don't care.

They are now hiring full timers while the temps that have been there are passed over. honda's reply for this is they are hiring those who have been waiting for over 6 mo. even though several of those temps have been waiting that long and longer. so that is what i know, take it or leave it. I plan on leaving it soon

honda's inurance carrier is aetna. They provide medical, dental, and vision with no premium taken out of ur check. U recieve a medical allowance per yr. anywhere between 1500 to 2500 depending upon ur coverage. Family is the higher while individual is the lower. Kind of like an HSA acct. Deductible is around 500 per person, strictly an 80/20 plan after until stoploss at around 2500 then it pays 100%. Hope this helps.

If you take the time to read this forum that others took the time to give info; then you will find your answers. I love these people who are too lazy to scroll thru the forum and want instant answers.

**** ATTENTION ****. ATTENTION ****. ATTENTION ****. ATTENTION *********
Well, I finally got my call from Honda yesterday and I was all excited....only to find out that they wanted to know if I was still interested in having my name in the " hire pool " I said of course I am. I was then told that I would have to repeat all of the physical exam and the physical capabilities test again since it has been over six months that I have done those tests ...WTF I thought. It has only been about seven months since I did the testing. That is my luck ..lol, other people on here that tested with me -' Green' and ' That Guy ' got hired and just had to go back for a drug test. This is just unbelievable to me, I have to do that dumb shit again and have to worry about my blood pressure being too high because I want the job so bad. My blood pressure is normal, but when I went to test last time it was high and I had to have my Dr send a letter saying I was fine. So, actually I went to these physical tests twice before..this will be my third time lol. I am going to do it again I guess..what the hell. I guess I like the torture lol. I go next week, I will give a full report on all of this bullshit then. Thank you all for reading my vent lol.

Wait till you get in there then you will see what a joke it is. If you think the hiring process was the most senseless thing you have ever seen then you haven’t seen nothing yet. Everything you heard about the temps and half the people don’t know how to do their job is correct. I have been there for a couple years and it is amazing anything gets done.

I will have to second this comment...never seen a place that rewards incompetence so freely. And the one team concept is a total mind game they like to throw out there only when it serves managements purpose. In some departments u don't even have a clue what time u will leave that day it may be after 8 hrs or it may be after 10 hours, and this is everyday. Doesn't make planning your life very easy when ur given a 5 min notice u will be working an extra hour or two.
