No doubt... Four cars behind, what do think the cause was. Were you able to tell?

This accident can't come as a surprise to anyone who drives I40. I feel bad for the people that were caught up in it. Especially the children but someone caused this to happen. Someone did something they should not have done. It could have been speed or inattention to the road or any number of things. I have no sympathy for the driver that made a choice to drive that way.

I wish people would be more careful and pay attention to their driving. Thank God for the people who were willing to stop and assist those who were injured. It takes special people to help others during an emergency. God Bless them and I will pray for those who were injured. Please slow down and pay attention to your driving.

I know exactly what happened it was not pretty.I,m not going to point any fingers here but i do know who caused the accident. I was right behind and to the left of the tractor trailor when the accident happened. I swerved to the right through debri and stopped about 500 yards in front of the accident. I jumped out and ran to the first car i came to which was a jeep with four people inside. Everyone seemed hurt bad but okay. I went to the second car a Nissan which was half stuck under the semi truck. I was relieved to find no one in the passenger seat but the man in the drivers seat was stuck inside because of a crushed door. The man inside said to my surprise, "I'm okay but I can't get out." In fear of a fire i started prying the door open to get the man out.finally i was able to rip the door open enough to get the man out. After checking to make sure he was okay i ran to the first car that was hit. I'm not going to say much about this until I find out about how the poor children are in the back seat.. I pray for them and the rest of the injures which included 2 more adults, one female and one male in the front of the childrens car.All i want to say right now is there were many people who were very brave and jumped in to help with whatever they could do.It was a very disturbing accident that could have been prevented. TRUST ME IT COULD HAVE.Thank you to everyone who was there with me to help, it shows people do care. Please pray for everyone involved..I may write more in the future we will see. If anyone has word on the accident and wants to reach me to see what they say happened feel free to contact me thru stevenhacksaw@yahoo.com.

Its realy sad, i was there 5 minites before it happened and to think all of this could have been avoided, the same detour they used due to the wreck, should have been all along... to avoid this from happening to begin with ...I have lived in Greensboro 42 years and the sheer stupidity never ceases to amaze me close the road to thru traffic... DETOUR ...How many have to die

I was headed east on I-40 Saturday and it was a living hell!!! I have lived and driven all over the country. People here drive like MANIAC'S.
I was driving 5-10 miles over the speed limit and people were passing me as if I were standing still. A motorcycle was weaving in and out of traffic. I was horrified this kid was going to kill himself. Even people in the car riding with me commented on it.
As long as we as a society allow this and participate, these collision's will continue.
While living in AZ they had police vehicles on the side of the road. These vehicles had radar equipment and camera's without police officer's. You received you citation in the mail.
i have always resented these tactic's. However, I believe the time has come to start implementing these strategies. It's just too dangerous driving these days. People are dying and being critically injured. SPEED KILLS. Please leave yourself time to reach your destination. This may save you or another people on the road.
We won't even go into the whole texting thing. Another killer!!!

Part of the reason is all the construction and going into 1 lane!
How many times do you make mistakes? or speed? or don't slow down?
We all do it !

All that are bashing the cause please ask yourself how many times you speed or cut someone off or you just plain made a mistake
I am sure he or she wishes they could take it back ! It all happend very very fast please pray for all!

This is a terrible terrible thing that has happened. There were several accidents in that same spot today and everyone did not make it out ok. Driving is such a risk now days. It's scary..anything at anytime can happen to anyone. So, please, don't point fingers at anyone right now..someone is mourning and they don't need any negativity. To Steve and all of the citizens that helped, stopped, prayed...you will be rewarded greatly.

I just spoke to my friend who was driving the Burgundy 2008 Jeep in this accident. She & her family were just discharged from hospital. There were 5 people in this vehicle. They all suffered some form of injuries, there was a child in vehicle but thank God they are all ok. Going to bed now since I know they're ok. Thanks Steve for responding to the wreck and the residents of Greensboro.

What ever happen to 10 and 2 hand position and no distractions while driving. Think about it you are operating a 2 to 3 ton moving object traveling anywhere from 35 to 65 mph along with other motorists. I am an adivocate for defensive driving! Honestly, we need to ban cell phone use in vehicles period and have stricter laws enforcing jail time and greater fines. Just recently I saw someone driving while trying to read a newspaper. People like this are going to hurt or kill other motorists for being distracted. We need a DWD (Driving While Distracted) law that enforces large fines to prevent this sort of thing. What's more important to you someones life and your own or a cell call? You decide!

I can almost guarantee that the truck driver was at least partially to blame!! I have NEVER been on the interstate without looking up to see a "professional" truck driver eating up my rear bumper, speeding down the road listening to Hank Williams and popping his little white pills!! They are to blame 80% of the time in interstate crashes. Just do the research!!

this is soo Awful! My heart goes out to the families of all the injured!
A few years ago there was an accident on 40 in winston that had several car involved. The on ramp to 52 was backed up, people in front of me had to slam on breaks, I had to, people behind me ended up next to me but not hitting anything...but behind that...one car after another slammed into each other...it was awful too but I don't think it compares to this one, it does bring back the memories though.i can't imagine even seeing one this bad happen and know there is nothing you can do to stop it. It was bad enough seeing the one on the 52 exit....
