well, woke up today and now my RIGHT ELBOW hurts suddenly for no reason!
My god.. this is just getting worse & worse! My hip, which I never hurt, or injured, hurts constantly now.. many times my ankle is in so much pain I cannot even THINK straight.
Yeah, same here, got the test results back from the health clinic and they say it's negative.
Well, luckily for me, I know some people who ALSO had that bull's eye rash and it was HUGE and they've given me the name of a doctor so hopefully I'll get this treated.
If not, I'm coming to Connecticut! You THINK that CT are telling patients there is NO lyme disease?
I doubt it! New England is known for deer ticks and that's where the name came from.
But to have to travel HUNDREDS of miles just to get antibiotics when a local doctor could EASILY prescribe it here in NC is SHAMEFUL!

After years of being sick and told that I have fibromyalyga, and other things, i tested postive for lyme by my neuro doctor, and that was only because of dizzy spells that i had a MRI of my brain, and it showed white matter, and then came several thousands of dollars worth of blood test and then a spinal puncture, i am being treated by my nero doc, with antibotics for one month, then back to him for possibly more.
And i just wonder if anyone is having the problem of all the lyme literate doctors not acceping insurance and having to pay up front, i personally do not have $500.00 to pay up front, so i have to accept any doctor who is willing to help and accept my insurance.

Doctors are amazing, aren't they? It takes them years and years of study to find out that what our parents told us has always been true. How many people have been laughed at by their arrogant know-it-all, holier-than-thou doctors when the patients asked their doctors if they could possibly have Lyme disease? How many were told that you couldn't get Lyme disease in NC because Lyme carrying ticks don't live in this state? I never knew a tick that could tell where the border of one state ended and another started, have you? But I've known quite a few apathetic, blood-sucking ticks who pretended to be good doctors. And I'll bet you have, too. lol

For those of you in need of a LLMD in NC, I have a great one in Greensboro. She is treating my boys, and we are seeing improvements. However, like many of the other REAL doctors, you will have to pay out of pocket. I am working on getting my insurance to cover since there is not another doctor in the area who will treat Lyme.

I agree, lol my family doctor said that Lyme in this area is just not heard of, but I think the reason that is, is because doctors would rather call it something else then to be put under the microscope, or actually stand up and say here are the results, look at them and tell me thats not what it is, because of the medical board and because of Insurance companys....It is putting my life at risk because I cannot afford to pay $500.00 upfront for the first of many visits to a doctor that actually belives that lyme is here.

And tiredofliberals I love what you said I never knew a tick that could tell where the border of one state ended and another started, have you?

This should be sent around to everyone.....

I am suffering from LYME DISEASE now for almost 3 yrs.I was in the E.R last week ,and was told that it is impossible to get or have LYME IN N.C.What is happening to our health care system,to our government??I just discovered information about Dr.Joseph Jemsek, one of the top experts on Lyme, only to discover that he has been pushed out of N.C.and S.C.I believe his new clinic will open next month in Washington,D.C.
I now know that I am not the only one in N.C. who is suffering. What can we do???I just wrote a letter to Oprah asking her to do a show on this debilitating disease .
Oh, girl, I'm so glad to see your post! I know it's a year old, but maybe you'll come back and see it soon. Let's hope. We live in western NC and we've got Lyme Disease too. Well, we got scads of deer around here now. Never used to even see a deer for years, even way out in the country, but now they're in the city limits on a DAILY basis. We garden, so we picked up this nasty disease!

Where can you go for treatment? I need a doctor NOW! I'm getting really sick.. dizzy, joint aches, daily diarrhea, heart palpitations...

Did you know that Opray sponsors that show Dr. Oz? Dr. Oz is GREAT! I LOVE DR. OZ!
He's such a kind guy, and so informative. He's taught the public SO much to help them with their general health. Just a sweetie! and a smart one at that! I bet Mrs. Oz feels blessed.

contact Dr. Oz Juliem and tell him that no where in north carolina will the doctors even admit you can get Lyme Disease here.

Shoot, we found a deer tick on our pillow for heaven's sake! How do you get rid of lyme disease anyway, when you got deer running daily in your own yard, even right our door! It's scary.

All these wild animal lovers who insist we need to live near the deer, are so foolish, so uninformed, and so hostile to anyone who's gotten the disease!
Bad enough, you are sick. Who needs to be belittled, tormented, insulted & degraded on top of it??
I think we should sue the state for refusing to acknowledge we have this pandemic in our area.

Hey, they just had a Lyme Disease Awareness conference in May 2010, in Raleigh. Don't you think that told the legislators or the doctors we now have the disease here?

My word, don't they know that diseases can travel? the birds can carry them, mice, deer, you name it... I worry every time we step outside that we got ticks on our shoes or clothes. I worry for our pets.
Try finding a deer tick the size of a pinhead on a dark furred animal! LOL... you could look your animal 24/7 and not find anything...
It's sheer misery.. what's even worse, is the trolls on this forum who'll come here and degrade & insult those who speak out about this crippling disease!

well, posters, don't take it personally. I'm sure the same thing came down, when HIV was first suspected. They tried to keep it secret.

hey, why doesn't Obama try to pass a bill to try find a cure for AIDS? that would be a good plan.

Deers definitely carry the Lyme Disease tick. we found a tick on our pillow. we've seen the bulleye's rash on us.. we garden. Case closed! Deer are everywhere here.

Watch out! Don't come to south Asheville! Biltmore Forest had to hire pro hunters to kill the deer, they were so bad. At least those people were wise.
The rest of the town, seems to think, that there's no way a deer can pose a safety or health concern to humans! What fools! Don't they ever google Lyme Disease, it's causes & effects. Guess not.

What exactly are you proposing then? Because if you are proposing that Doctors in NC get wiser to the presense of, and facts about Lymes then i am behind you 100%. But your posts have a subtle undercurrent of "deer carry the ticks, lets get rid of the deer.", and if thats what you want, i suppose you pack up and head back to Florida, where i suspect you are from anyway. All these Floridiots who would pave Asheville and put up a parking lot in the name of public health...

Whos ur sons doc in sc? Need a llmd quick for me and my 12 yr old. Live near wilmington nc.
Karen wrote:
YA THINK! Doctors think? No, they don't think! My 16 year old son has been suffering with chronic Lyme disease for over six years. He went undiagnosed all those years! It wasn't until last spring that I took matters into my own hands and did some research and discovered that he has chronic Lyme. My son has been diagnosed with a laundry list of ailments including depression, anxiety disorder, bipolar disorder, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, etc..... As if the disease wasn't brutal enough, the medical community in Greensboro denies that Lyme exists in NC. How many times did I hear-- your son needs psychiatric help! Thank God for our Lyme literate doctor in South Carolina! Unfortunately, he was booted out of NC for treating patients who are suffering with this debilitating illness.
My son is in the midst of treatment. He is in chronic pain. He is too sick to attend school. Instead of worrying about finding a date for the prom, he has to worry if his next infusion will be more painful than the last. He has to wonder if he will be given pain medications for his severe headaches, joint and all over body aches. Imagine having the worst case of the flu for six years! The mental anguish that goes with this disease is unimaginable! Lyme disease caused by the spirochete bacteria is stealthy and can evade the immune system. In many cases, ticks carry co-infections such as Babesia and Bartonella. These diseases tend to go to the brain, attacking the red blood cells and wreaking emotional and cognitive havoc.
Since beginning treatment in June, we have seen amazing results! His depression, anxiety, and mood swings are basically eradicated. His memories of childhood are coming back and his sense of smell has returned. He says his "brain fog" has lifted, and he feels like he is crossing a bridge back to his body. Although his body pain is still intense, the emotional pain was the worst, and he is thankful for the healing that has taken place in his brain.
Lyme disease as a chronic infection needs to be embraced by the medical community! It is real! Visit underourskin.com for more eye opening information. You will be amazed at how many people are suffering from this disease.
