Oh my, here we go. I hope they find this person that is missing. This is up in my neck of the woods. What difference does it make? Its a creek or a lake. He could be in either being up that way. My prayers are with all of them.

I am flabbergasted by the amount of people who drown in this state. It's so unnecessary! If you're on a boat you should be wearing a life jacket. If you're in the water and cannot swim you should be wearing a life jacket. Every week there's another person dead from something that's completely preventable! It's just so tragic, and I feel awful for the families of these people.

Why do they make it sound like this body might be an "extra" ...like it's not the body they were looking for in the first place?

Just because you have a life vest on does not clear you from drowning. You can be a great swimmer but still drown. It is always tragic when someone drowns but it happens. I wish I could say it does not but when it is your time to leave this earth you are going to go with or without a life preserver! Regardless of the precautions we take in life to protect ourselves from the inevitable, God decides when we must leave.

forget the preaching about "when its your time to leave this earth"...come on! The truth is that Belews Lake is dangerous. It is so murky that you can't see an inch below the surface of the water. Safety first...ALWAYS! My thoughts go to the family.

We go to Belews all the time. The water is the cleanest of any lake water I have ever seen. As far as the preaching when it is your time it is your time whether in a car, lake, or the many other ways people leave this earth. Belews is a clean lake and yes a very deep lake. Life jackets are good to use when on this lake! But it still gives no guarantee that you will not drown.

Prayers to the family. Dont know the people or the family of this young man but I hope they find some comfort in God at this time of mourning.

Of course life jackets aren't a guarantee against drowning. However, you've got a heck of a lot better chances of not drowning if you're wearing one.

As for "God deciding when we must leave," that doesn't mean we should be reckless. Safety is important, and if more of these people followed diligent safety practices, their families wouldn't be in mourning.

I don't get it, why does the headline read "Police Identify Body Found in Belews Lake" didn't the people who were boating with him tell the police who he was?
