If the GOP really wants to "drive down" costs, they need to look no further than the industry itself. Don't try to put the blame on the consumer, they need to look at what is really creating the high cost. Recently a family member was in the hospital for a major operation, a month in ICU and then rehab. When we looked at the bill there were numerous double charges and charges for things and services that she did not even receive. When we called the Insurance Company their answer was to make a itemized list and submit it for review. 1 year later and were still waiting for the "review" of charges. Another thing they might want to look at is the outrageous charges by hospitals for simple things like liquid drinks for people that can't eat solid food, our charge,$6.50 for a can of Boost or my favorite,$2.50 for a cup of jello. This is why people can't afford to be sick, its the industry, not the consumer. Even with HSA's the COST will not change. At least the Democrat's are coming up with ideas, bad or good, The GOP sits back and criticizes but has no ideas except how to protect the industry.
