The town should get statements from tenants on these cash payments and turn them over to the IRS. I'll bet very few are claiming this as income. Income tax invasion will straighten some of these clowns up.

It's about time.

Do you really expect this type of renting not to happen regardless of who the landlord is.
If you do then shame on you.
Of course he should be put in jail without a doubt, but,he will get a slap on the hand and be done with it,
I do not however, think it was proper for "Bobby" to call another person a stupid bastard for what he wrote.
Maybe, just maybe, Bobby is the one who is stupid,,,,people write what they think and no one should be called a name for it,

Get this scumbag! The police don't know if what he did is a violation of policy? Are you frigging kidding us? Just the appearance of an impropriety should be enough to get this assrag investigated. But then, we are talking Brookhaven now!

These people are a plague on society along with the ones who allow them to get away with this. Most of the slumhouses are owned by people who do not live in the area and they usual own more than one. It is a business to them and they are operating a boarding house in a residential area. This is where the elected official come in who have been looking the other way on these operations. Now the situation is so out of control and many of our once nice neighborhoods have been turned into ghettos. Huntington Station is a perfect example of this along with Brentwood, Farmingville and Mastic-Shirley.

So now they are trying to put a bandaid on the situation and close down a few of the house to give themselves a pat on the back. Why haven't they passed laws to not allow rentals if the owner is not on the property. Renting out a house should not be allowed if the owner lives elsewhere.

The only reason this is news is because it was a cop.

How about that Suffolk Judge who is said to own half of the same area.
