How's the pole doing? I hope it wasn't hurt.

As for the driver, either booze, cell phone, ipod, or not enough sleep.

Wells Road is a Very hilly and curvy road. If you go over 35 or 40 you are most likely going to lose control. It is a pretty dangerous road.
Who knows if it was DWI, Cell phone talking, Speeding...
I hope he comes out of it!
If it was DWI, I hate to say it, but, I hope he get punished by law.
I really hope it wasn't though.

Feel Better! Keep Fighting!

speaking as someone who was at the scene assisting in the extrication of this young man i can say that i do not know what the cause of the accident was. However I can attest to the results. The car undercut the telphone pole, and came to rest facing the oposite direction of travel with sever frontend damage, as well as severe damage to the roof. Personaly i was amazed that the young man had survived the impact. Since the telephon pole was severed at the base the power lines were resting on the car, we had to wait for lipa to secure the power. Once the power was secured, two fire dept sets of the jaws of life and one set PD ESU jaws of life standing by, the young man was extricated from the vehicle in what couldnt have been more than 5 min.

My prayers go out to the family of this man, hoping that he makes a full recovery.

YOU SHOULD BE TOTALLY ASHAMED OF YOURSELF. THIS SHOWS WHAT AN IGNORANT BEING YOU ARE (NOT HUMAN).
THIS YOUNG MAN HAS JUST DIED. MY DAUGHTER WAS AT THE HOSPITAL. HIS PARENTS HAVE LOST A SON, HIS SIBLINGS A BROTHER AND A FRIEND TO MANY!!!!
I SUGGEST YOU TAKE A GOOD LOOK AT YOURSELF AND PRAY NOTHING LIKE THIS EVER HAPPENS TO YOU OR YOUR FAMILY!!
THIS FAMILY HAS THE HORRIBLE TASK OF ARRANGING A FUNERAL NOW.
MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS ARE WITH HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS.
GOD FORGIVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!

I am close with his Mom. People should think twice about sending a post. Except with nice things to say. This is every parents nightmare. I am so sorry to hear he passed. My prayers are with the whole family. Especially his Mom.

Why is there a pattern emerging where young LIer' are dying in car accidents between midnight and 6AM...mostly on weekends?

Was Kyle a college student with no classes on Friday? Seems many LI clubs are packed with students on Thursday nights.

If a driver is obeying the speed limit and other laws while driving past 99 Wells Road, which Google shows is a straight road with no curves, how does the driver lose control?

An East Northport man was seriously injured early Friday morning when he lost control of his car and hit a utility pole on a Greenlawn roadway, the Suffolk police said.

Kyle Herman, 20, was driving a 1994 Saturn east at 12:15 a.m. Friday on Wells Road when he struck the pole on the south side of the street, in front of 99 Wells Rd.

Herman, of 507 4th Ave. in East Northport, was extricated from the car by Greenlawn Fire Department personnel.

He was taken by police helicopter to the Stony Brook University Medical Center, where he was admitted in critical condition with severe head injuries.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and Second Squad detectives are investigating.
