Hundreds of gay-rights supporters paraded through downtown Sunday trying to assuage the sting of last month's state Supreme Court decision upholding the voter ban on same-sex marriage. Full Story

Ya know, every time this issue arises, someone starts screaming about religion. As best as I can tell, it works like this (to the tune of "The Unicorn Song"):

Noah marched in the animals, two by two,
And he called out as they went through:
"Hey Lord, I got your hen and your rooster, your ewe and ram,
Your lion and lioness, your tiger and his dam,
A male and female polar bear, but hear what I say,
The unicorn couple is gay."

And, of course, that's why you've never seen a unicorn to this very day.

No one asked you to appreciate anything, and really don't give a big ratsass if you are supportive. And, the word "vast" might be a bit of an overstatement... 4% of voters is not anywhere close to vast.
As for the nursery poem about unicorns, I'll bet you still believe in the tooth fairy and that the world is less than 6,000 years old.

What is normal? A religious man having 10 wives all under the age of 13?

Nobody's asking for your appreciation, support or approval. In fact, you're free to continue to believe that the gay "lifestyle" is abnormal. That's the great thing about this country... I am just as free to believe that your Christian lifestyle is abnormal crap. Just remember that in a free society nobody has the right to legislate against preferences that may offend others, provided nobody's rights are violated. You don't have the right not to be offended. You're not being forced into attending these events. If you don't like seeing two men hold hands in public, your only option is not to look. I'm sure some members of the homosexual community feel the same about having heterosexuality rammed down their throats constantly. My advice to both of you is to get over it, because it's not going away.

Nobody needs or wants your approval for anything. Who died and made you God? What an attitude, you belong in Orange County.

Wow, I guess that needed to be said twice, that's how important the thought is.

You are definitely not normal and I'm grateful for that.

There are no homosexual animals. Seahorses are unique, and maybe snails have both sets of organs.

How about appreciating this normal Christian practice?
Adelphopoiesis, from the Greek, derived from (adelphos) "brother" and "I make", literally "brother-making" is a ceremony practiced at one time by various Christian churches to unite together two people of the same sex (normally men. It is argued by the historian John Boswell in his book Same-sex unions in pre-modern Europe, also published as The marriage of likeness, that the practice was to unite two persons in a marriage-like union.
Beautiful, we know what to call gay marriage from now on.

Gay lifestyle and deviant lifestyle are synonomous. There is a deviation from the norm by a small percentage of our population which constitutes a very howling loud and visible presence.
In times such as ours now w/ the truly monumental economic environmental and financial challenges this society faces, it is a tragedy that such a small minority special interest group such as this is so able to dominate the news and soundwaves for such a relatively, in these times, inconsequential perceived social affront. You and your minority special interest should get over it and give it up, already. Take a hint from the voters finally and quit wasting solely needed attention of the public/voters, more time, and money (maybe)?

I certainly hope post #2 wasn't removed because somebody didn't like what he had to say. While I disagreed with his post enough to directly respond, he was merely voicing an opinion. Even a bigot has the right to speak his mind. You can't preach tolerance while gagging the opposition.

No thanks... just like anybody else, I'm free to place my priorities where I wish. We're all looking out for our interests, so spare me the rhetoric about shelving mine in favor of ones YOU deem more important. As far as deviance, you say that like it's a bad thing. Stick to your bland and homogeneous world; I find the deviants much more interesting and life-affirming.

Here's a thought:

There's a principle often used in testing, "forced choice." The tester gives a choice between scenarios A and B. Either both A and B are really desirable, or both are really undesirable. The choice reveals one's underlying values.

Given a choice between (a) numerous lifestyle panhandlers with meth culture, or (b) gay marriage, I would choose (b) every time.

Gays, take note: Those of us (such as myself) who oppose gay marriage do not hate you.

You sure didn't make any points here. What a bunch of crap for a comparison. You have made your arguement out to be a total farce. Please rethink your logic as the bigot in you is still showing.

The democratic process has played out. The people have spoken. The democratic process works.

Funny though that there is overwhelming support for civil unions, yet the ingrates that should be thankful and embrace this, scream and yell like a bunch of crybabies.

We voted. Get over it.
