I am glad the Band Perry is doing a free concert. My question is how much money is this costing the taxpayers of Greeneville and Greene County? All the extra police, fire, ems and fuel for city school buses have to be paid for by taxpayers dollars. One city police officer told me between the city and county it would cost around $45,000.00 of taxpayers money in overtime and fuel for this free concert. Now thats my tax dollars being wasted. I think its time the band perry steps up to the plate and pays their fair share and takes it off the taxpayers to foot the bill.

I agree. By the way, they will be arresting people with hoodies on. So I'm not going

General Mills is listed as the sponsor.$45,000 would be nothing to a company of that size. Maybe the band is donating the proceeds from items they will be selling back to the community.

Let us know if you get any more information about what the county and city will be paying. This is interesting.

I heard General Mills is giving the money to the food bank. I certainly agree our taxpayers are going to be paying for this concert

We just paid a lot more than that for county
employees raises? I don't think they'll have to raise my land taxes for this concert. I'm also sure Greeneville will benefit from this free concert. It has already had plenty of exposure from Bristol to Knoxville.

I agree. Greeneville will recoup any money spent in tax revenue. This is great for the town, so stop making foolish comments. We need more events like this. Leave it to Greeneville residents, most likely the same ones who complain there is nothing to do in town, to bash this event.

I agree. This is great for the town. Monday's Greeneville Rag will sing the praises of how much revenue is 'estimated' to have been brought into town, but the expenses will never be addressed.

I think it's nice these young people are putting on a free concert. Yes, it will cost the town money but looks how much revenue will be brought in to area restaurants, grocery stores, retail stores, hotels/motels etc. People who claim there is nothing to do suddenly have it & it's free!

They helped the local non-profit (LOW KILL) shelter by getting an enormous pet food donation. Per the article, General Mills will be making a donation to the food bank. I'm grateful for their efforts & proud of their achievements.:)

Pretty slick PR campaign when you get The Chamber of Conmerce to pay for your bands CD release party. I wouldn't be surprised to hear they were probably paid to do the show. Either way, the citizens of Greeneville have been duped yet again into believing they're getting something "free"! The Chamber of Commerce is the "sponsors" ... The Band Perry laughs all the way to the bank. Just like the last 3 song show, pay full price $15 for a CD, buy it at Wal-Mart in a week,$8.99. I wonder if they got a peddlers permit like the other folks around town???

I'd be willing to bet that the very complainers will be the first ones there. I think it's great. I know for a fact that the Perry's are genuinely nice people. I don't begrudge them their success, they've earned it, they deserve it. I'm going to the concert and looking forward to joining with friends and neighbors to celebrate fellow friends' and neighbors' success.

There will be sales tax revenue created by the people who get gasoline, buy a meal, rent a motel room, etc. This is like the Christmas parade for downtown, except bigger. Plus it gives the area some exposure.
