Clerk and masters office

Can anyone tell me why the Greene county clerk and masters office is not elected? All the other ones are.

I googled and came up with this: the State Constitution allows the Chancellor (Judge of the Chancery Court) to appoint someone to the position for a given term. The current C&M's mother had the position before her. Like many areas, nepotism flourishes. ;)

Didn't her dad have it before her mom did ? Question it enough and they will have to make it an elected position.
