Another case of inadequate emergency back-up systems has led to large amounts of sewage spilling into a Morristown creek and ultimately into Cherokee Lake.

On Thursday a contractor was repairing a Morristown sewage line along Fall Creek near Three Springs Road. The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) said the contractor's "bypass pump failed and they could not pull the upstream plug." The pump failure sent sewage spewing into Fall Creek for a few hours until crews could bring in a replacement pump.

"Raw sewage was spilling into the creek and it was grey-black. It was horrible," said Jenny Anderson, a Russellville resident who lives directly beside the site of the spill. "They were not prepared. And then when it happened, instead of someone immediately being here, it was almost two hours before they had help. Two little men were trying to hold that leak with their hands with all of that stuff spraying on them and I felt extremely sorry for them. The pump that was supposed to be pumping it out quit and the sewage just kept coming out and coming out.

Morristown's city administrator, Tony Cox, did not speak directly to 10News about the incident. However, his office issued a written press release that said 9,500 gallons of sewage were released into Fall Creek.

If you mean that I have something to say about quite a bit of these subjects posted, yes. I am sorry you lack the mental capacity to talk about more than drug addicts and whose screwing who. Have a nice day.

I am sure there are tons of free candy bars floating around the lake. Dive in and enjoy it!!! You may get lucky and find one with nuts inside!!!
