yes. But you do not need to live in the county to vote for a sheriff, ect ect. That's why we are stuck with a crook and a liying sheriff Steve burns. Every year his budget goes up 800,000$ but people think he is so great. Greene county has 2nd worst crime rate in state yet we vote him in and give him more money every year. I pray and hope voters wake up this time.

You absolutely DO need to live in Greene County to vote for Sheriff, or any other County official..Greeneville is in Greene County, so if you live in Greeneville, you are automatically a resident of Greene County, therefore eligible to vote.

It is a simple concept. Greene County is not part of Greeneville. Greeneville is part of Greene County.

If you own a business in the city you pay both city and county taxes. But still don't get to vote if you live in the county.

If you own a business in the city, you only pay 1/10 of 1% of gross receipts city and county business tax. That is not property tax.

If you own the property where the business is located, then you pay city and county property tax. If you pay city and county property tax, then you can vote in the city. If you own property in the city, you can vote in the city. If you do not own property in the city, and do not live in the city, you don't get to vote in the city. You must be a resident or a property owner, just like the county.

You are very welcome. I live in the county, but own both a business and property in the city, therefore can vote in both city and county elections. And no, you can't vote twice for the same person.
