I, like Mandi- have experimented with drugs in my life. It's not something I'm proud of but it's something I've done.

I have never been hooked on anything, be it alcohol, pills, Mary j, etc.

But bath salts for me were very different. Once I tried it the first few times I was hooked as I was with k2/incense. I literally could not put them down. I had a body temperature of 105-107 while high on bath salts on a binge. It was horrifying my face caved in and I lost crazy amount of weight.

These "synthetic" drugs are awful and it took me to a place that has been hard to come back from. Sure I'm clean now, but my life hasn't been the same since and I don't think it will be anytime soon.

I didn't tell these things to brag, or for sympathy. I'm just trying to tell everyone that these drugs are way more serious than they seem.
Please just pray for them and help them anyway you can other than giving them money.

They don't need judgement. They need serious help.
what a shame

Thank you. This is the response I was looking for. I am sorry you went through this too, but am thankful that you had the sense to try to better yourself and put these drugs behind you. You did what most people can't. Congratulations and I wish you the best in your sobriety.

My point that I have been trying to get across is that if Mandi was smoking pot, drinking, popping pills or things like that, I would not be commenting on a post about her on topix. Sure, those drugs are bad (mmkay) but these salts are destroying her in a way no one could ever realize.
Mandi is not some stupid person who doesn't know better. She does. She's not 18 and messing around with drugs and eventually clear herself up. She's older, with a family, a mortgage, and beautiful child, loving parents and a career she worked her ass off for. She also has several friends from her past that are genuinely worried about her. she has lost it all and I don't see her ever getting any of it back unless she gets serious help. I don't see her making it through this at all without serious help.

Doctors have tried. An intervention has been tried. I thought seeing herself in the, busted paper would've been enough, but I guess not. I can say that I have tried. The outcome was not good because I realized the person I was trying to talk to was a shell of a person and the real Mandi was no where inside. It changed me for the rest of my life to see her in the condition she is in. I had to try just so I could sleep at night knowing I have done all I could do. But I can't get the thought from my head that if I don't try to do something, I will never be able to live with the guilt if I get the call that these drugs have taken her. And NO ONE realizes that scenario is much closer than people think.
Mandi has her faults, even before the drugs. The drugs just intensifies them. I don't want to talk bad about her, I just want someone to help her cause I know the old, real Mandi would do the same for any of her old friends. I just hope someone out there has a clue what to do. Someone who can reach her, pull her away from Jeff and that whole scene, and manage to get her the help she needs. Before it's too late.

I know Jeff from high school. I don't know Mandi. The Jeff I knew was fun, loving, hard working, and compassionate. But back in those days he only drank a bit and smoked pot occasionally. Before pot was as scary as it is now. I know he isn't that person any longer. From pictures and just seeing them around I can't believe what these drugs do to a person. My prayers go out to them if for nothing but that beautiful child. It sounds like they need away from each other for their own good. Some people are simply bad for each other.

Why don't you all consider the fact that these two irresponsible individuals do have a beautiful child and can be effected by what is on this thread. She is old enough and very intelligent enough to understand what is being said. Don't think people in this town don't talk and it can get to her some how!

The kids of all the drug head parents already know they are drug heads. They don't need this site to tell them. Unfortunately the drugs heads don't see this or don't care.

They do need help; I wish I could help them.

I just don't think they need shitty gossip blogs trash them. That will not help the situation. I personally told Mandi that she needs to get clean, but I know (even before 'Intervention' came out) that people DO NOT get help until they feel that they need it.

This isn't just a response to your post; its to all the posts that put them in some junkie category. I do agree tho. They DO need some help. I wish that this town had a real place to go clean up. Unfortunately, even though we have meth lab after meth lab busted in Greene Co., how Main Street looks is more important...

That's all we need is a rehab center in Greeneville. Oh and we'll have to raise your taxes to help get these people cleaned up. I don't think so!

I don't think our taxes got raised to build car washes and banks. Just got to get rid of these Democraps, all they want to do is help people that won't help themselves. If something don't change, there's not going to be enough people working to take care of the truly sick people that worked their whole life's away.

Actually most treatment centers are privately funded and paid for by insurance. The ones that aren't are state or federally funded. There aren't any town/county funded rehab at least in east Tennessee. Please know what you are talking about before you post.

Oh well since I don't pay any sales tax or federal taxes, I guess it's ok then. Please stop being a Democrat.

Yeah we also pay their insurance. Tenn Care. The working people aren't the drug addicts. It's the useless. If you people think they need help, give them everything you got. I fore one have given enough!
Right on! I knew them both years ago and hope they get their lives in order, but the truth is that their poor decisions are costing me. As you mentioned, I am certain the taxpayer is on the hook for their treatment. Further, their multiple arrests have cost us thousands. They knew that bath salts and other drugs would destroy their lives, yet they elected willingly to go down that road. People like this should be on the hook to compensate the taxpayer for the cost of their treatment, court costs, attorneys, jail stay, etc.
