I am sure you food stamp recepients still have a cell phone, internet, a computer, cable and many other luxuries. If you can afford such things as I mentioned, you can afford food. As a society, we've come to accept that luxuries are necessities. The vast majority of people on welfare shouldn't get it, but as we see here, "we qualify for it", so we take it. That is my money you are eating on, you leech!

. Well if that's all you can do then by god you do that. Welfare is not a frigging career path!

There are several job openings in the paper. People I know that dont work always say they are looking for jobs but when you tell them about job openings they will say how they cant do that job or it wont pay enough....well the pay would be better than sitting at home on their asses!!! I guess the government has made it so easy for these people to just sit at home, eat their food, drink beer and do drugs. These people can afford a cell phone, dope, alcohol, cigarettes, gas to ride around and the majority of these people sell their food stamps to people. These people that abuse the system by getting all this money for schooling pisses me off too.... they just get the money but never use the college education to get jobs. They keep going to school to get that money. I have seen people with 4 or 5 food stamp cell phones!!!! To the people that are looking for a job, go pick up The Greeneville Sun today. There are lots of job listings!!!!

I think there comes a time when we have to take the country back and it won't happen without bloodshed. The government creates a mentality among those who feed off the system that they are entitled to what they receive. These people in turn vote themselves more "free" stuff and support the politicians who look to continue our downward spiral. I think we will see a time when the working class had to cull those from society who have turned the working class into their slaves.

In my opinion there are people who deserve food stamps. Those are the elderly who have worked their fingers to the bone all their life, raised a house full of kids & did without themselves, only to find today that they have to decide which to get this month...food or medicine. Most can't afford both. Then you have our vets who have came back from wars disabled & can't work. They too need assistance and deserve it. Those who do not need it...lazy a$$ people who refuse to work. those who continue to have children so they can get more free $$. Child care is expensive, but you can work & do community service to get that weekly amount cut down. Most refuse to even do that.

I agree, it goes both ways. We have a society that makes me sick, with an ever growing number of leeches and a government that sees power in continuing the progression.

Actually it is not a cut in benefits, there was a temporary increase in April 2009 due to the recession. This temporary stimulus is ending bringing benefit amounts back to the "normal" rate. It was only supposed to be a temporary boost.

What is real sad is the ever growing number of military families that qualify for food stamps and WIC. I dare someone to tell me that they deserve them over our military. Actually, you people do deserve food stamps over our military because there is no f'ing reason for our military families to be ON food stamps. They need better pay than the people that think working at McD's is a career.

<quoted text>welcome to the real world, you shouldnt get help it is nobodys place to pay any of your bills or help pay them, what it boils down to is people should think twice before having kids, what if the child is born with something wrong, can i provide for the child, if no then dont have them, what if my spouse died or something went wrong and i ended in a divorce can i support my kids, if not dont have them , the problem with society is people think its always someone elses duty to help them when they have made bad choices or have problems, take personal responsibility and if you didnt get any help i bet you would work 10 times harder to overcome challengies in your life, all those that dont look for work because they are above working for less money would be working if the gov said no foodstamps starve. everyone seams to think Their problems are everyones problems, people have a sense of entitlement, have some self respect and do for yourself..........now get off you ass and go to work
Excuse me but I DO WORK!!!!! And now you're saying I should have predicted my husbands untimely death and thus we shoudln't have had children??? You are the problem in this world. Thinking you have the place to tell people what they should and shouldn't do because of what MAY happen. Excuse me, but I prefer to live my life, not hide away and prepare for the worst. I obviously don't get enough help and I do work 10 times harder every year, not that it's any of your business. But what would you know? You're probably on here all day every day with your useless knowledge and predjudice opinions.

Alot of people will take cuts. They should cut them back even more and only let peopkebon food stamps get things like beans, flour, milk, cheese, and that's about it
I agree, these cuts aren't deep enough. They should cut that much each month until the deadbeats are weaned from the giveaway program. In the meantime, only allow them to buy the foods you listed on the taxpayer's dime.

I work very hard and my family depends on foodstamps to fill in the gaps my lousy paycheck leaves. I am by no means lazy. I work 40+ hours a week, I have two kids to raise all by myself, and I don't get any help with daycare, gas, utilities or anything but food. And we were barely scraping by with what they were giving us and now they're cutting it down even more. But I bet those people up on capitol hill will be sure to get their triple-digit haircuts and mani-pedi's anyways...
Amazing. You have two kids with no daddy? How does that work, scientifically? And I always thought it took two to Tango.

If your paycheck is "lousy" it's time for you to find another job, get another job or lower your standard to living to live within your means. If you are "barely scraping by on what they are GIVING you" it's time to get out there and make better for yourself, that is the American way. If you are expecting government to do it for you, you are cutting your own throat so don't complain that you're bleeding to death. It's your own fault.

<quoted text> So true! Glad their is still SOME good people out here that understand other people's situation and are not judge mental butt holes!!
Don't be so quick to call us "mental butt holes" after all, we are the taxpayers that are paying for your free ride.

Don't you think we have families to feed, too. Don't you think we have bills to pay, problems, unexpected emergencies? We are expected to handle all those financial responsibilities and ALSO PAY ridiculous amounts of taxes that go to support others who feel entitled to a chunk our our paycheck because they didn't plan well and now have babies they can't afford. I've worked hard since I was 12 years old and educated myself, put off a lot of dreams until I was financially secure enough to afford them on my own dime, including the unforeseen problems life throws at all of us...and I don't feel I should be punished for my responsible decisions and success with a big tax bill to support those who sit down and whine about how their bad decisions have put them in a bad situation so now it's the taxpayer's responsibility to bail them out.

If you don't want to be judged, then pay your own stinking bills and support your own dang kids, they aren't our responsibility and we don't care how sad you think your sob story is.

Nobody can predict death, but if you are a parent with children and dependent on someone's income to raise those children...you dang sure should be buying a life insurance policy to provide for your children in the event of an untimely death. How 'bout that for being a responsible parent? An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

If you are getting any of the taxpayer's money to support your family or pay your bills, it is our business.
