I'm not sure of the actual figures, private sector may not cost as much per day. What the real issue is, though, is the quality of care that patient receives. Turnover in the private sector is incredibly high compared to a state facility. The patient will not receive the same quality of care from a constant flow of new staff as they will from staff who have been with that patient for years. I'm not saying the staff in outside agencies are under trained, but with that cheaper daily care price comes lower salaries. It's hard work for only $8 - $10 an hour. Not to mention that rarely are there any benefits ( insurance, 401k, etc.). So, while the private sector may cost less I would rather pay the extra money to ensure that the patient has quality, consistent care.

I totally agree there is a high turnover rate, no benifets for employees. You make crap pay to get your ass. Handed to you daily. I also believe that we not just have a place to point a finger at like they are Zoo animals cause there not there quite amazing once you get to know them. Just like any other joe on the street. I think these outside company should be heled responseable for how employees are treated and client care And moral would go up.

Do they vote and do they know when they are getting quality care or not seems to me fancy lives should be financed but the family if they have high income its their genes and loved ones .

Have any of you ever stepped inside a cottage at Greene Valley? Trust me, those are not "fancy living". As for the community homes, they may be big, but are actually fairly modest. The atriums they have were a huge mistake, though, I'll agree. A mistake that was rectified in the design of the phase 3 homes, might I add. As far as the people who live in them being non-voters, that's not 100% true either. There's a great number of individuals who vote. It is just as much their right as it is yours to receive proper care, whether they vote or not. The greatness of a nation can be judged by how it treats it's weakest citizen.

I don't know the IQ cut off point for voters but I dare say its the over paid GVDC employees that think the state should provide 250 k homes for these people heck they would enjoy jail just as much when the mind leaves the body food sleep and shelter is all they need .

.
With a mind such as yours, it's YOU that deserves nothing more than basic food, sleep, and shelter. And by the way, there are many residents of Greene Valley that are in their right mind more than you apparently are at this point.
