kids need to be the kids

It's no wonder America is a fallen nation. All the shows and commercials try to make the kids out to be the boss of the families making the moms and dads look dumb and stupid. Folks the adults need a reality check. Hollywood has decided to tear the family unit apart and we are just standing by and watching. Any ideas?

Have you been living in a vacum for the past 15+ years? What you describe has been going on at least that long. Ditto the complaints.

How about talking to the kids and letting them know that it is just a show and that if they try it in real life that they will be reminded who is in charge? I have had several talks with my son about why things that are funny on tv are not always funny in real life. Except people falling down and trying to keep their balance and then running but slowly getting closer to the ground until they can no longer stay up. That is funny no matter where it happens.

i think that sometimes that the media has a very high influence over the thinking and behavior of the youth in the nation...
i don't know if the topics that are in the tv programming, movies, and music are simply something the child would find interesting by nature and/or could relate too but i suspect that they use the impressionability of the young brain to implant these ideals, these morals, these ways of thinking of accepted modes of behavior into them... we must keep in mind behind any piece of art of "entertainment" there is an intelligence with an agenda of a message they are trying to communicate...
be it a terrorist muslim in the middle east making a cartoon of killing jews(no im not making a random example thats real) or a liberal californian wanting to give the idea that sexual experimentation is okay... just examples... but still.
yeah the media does influence way too much.... we don't have to have a cable box or go to those movies that are put out for release by the people in power of this industry who decide what is right and appropriate... to their standards but still we do and the influence is there...
who ever controls the media controls the message- Jim Morrision.

I agree with your analogy only if you are dumber than dirt and live in a cave. The media does not dictate what I think or what my children think. No way! If you listen to the media breathlessly awaiting their "news" and follow blindly then you are truly living in a bubble and have no thoughts of your own. My motto is pretty much if the majority of the media channels are sayting ït's so then that means it ain't so. I do my homework and that homework rarely includes the local media "mafia" channels.
