So I was told I was supposed to tip the dog groomer. I'm already paying her, why do I have to tip her also?

I wish that tipping was not expected anywhere or any time. Business owners should pay wages that would not make tips necessary.

I will tip my hat to them but that's all.

If people continue to not tip, then employers will pay their groomer more. When this happens, you will complain that the cost of the cut is too much because the more the employer pays the higher the cost is, therefore... it is self explanatory. Groomers also deal with obnoxious fluffy that at home behaves very well, they have to maintain licenses, insurance, and equipment. Having the blades sharpened every week is very expensive and is getting worse. If you want a groomer who keeps up their equipment - better pay them as such - it is the first thing that will be neglected to save money. Second, the price of shampoos and conditioners are getting very high. This is another area where they will cut costs by getting cheaper product. Groomers, waitresses, hairdressers are all in the same boat - they need to receive tips and should when they are doing a good job and if they mess something up they are willing to go above and beyond to make you happy.
