Why do switchboard operators not work the graveyard shift? Why do Security Guards not work the graveyard shift, hey people, they ain't nobody there to protect the grounds on graveyard. Wonderful managers saving money for businessmen Governors. Take critical need clients who need all the help they can get fast and put them in homes where they are isolated from that help, makes all the sense in the world don't you think? Tear down the fence which seperated GVDC from the dangerous 11E Highway. Did the person who made that call not realize there was a client who got in that road late at night was run over and then run over again and again by early morning traffic until the client looked like road kill. Wonderful Managers making wonderful decisions don't you think?

Sound like to me that so far Jenny H is the only one on this thread that has any clue about GVDC!! Whom ever GVDC WATCH is he/she is just showing how out of touch they are about GVDC!! As for as who I am I am a long time employee of GVDC and could answer any question that anyone may have if I even thought for a second you could wrap your little mind around the answers. I agree with Jenny H just a bitter employee who did not last long or maybe someone that just could not get their way or handle the job. Get a over it !!!!!!!!!!

The man who died did not live at GVDC. He had moved to the East Tennessee homes. GVDC was only lifted from part of the settlement. Not All of it. the Quality Review Panel comes every year and from what I'm hearing everything is going pretty well. Not sure why Jenny is being attacked, she's pretty much right on. ICF will come in March or April, but also do a follow up a couple months after and yes they can also come back at anytime. There is no major investigation going on at Gvdc. Just protocol. Jenny, do you work in Newel?

The people who live at GVDC today are much different from those of years ago. You didn't mention that it happened over 20 years ago. Maybe 30. There are only a few people now who would be capable of getting to the bypass and they show no desire to run off.

No one is allowed to mention GVDC clients' names and that is appropriate but having said that there is a client in Newel now who is very capable of getting to that road and getting there without anyone knowing about it. It surprises me how little the people on here talking know about the place they work. Either GVDC is under the settlement agreement or it is not, there is no in between. Dr. Meese announced several years ago GVDC was no longer under it. I suppose he could have lied, that is entirely possible, seems to be a common practice at GVDC. If I am not mistaken the clients in the community homes are still very much a part of GVDC until such time as that responsibility is taken away. There is a lot of smoke and mirrors and dog and pony shows going on at GVDC in an effort to confuse everybody. I must say it is a good theatrical performance but it does little to benefit anyone especially the clients at GVDC.

Yes, I work in Newel. I worked in Maple for a very long time until it closed. Shew! 16 years in! Lol! Funny how GVDC Watch thinks I just fell off the turnip truck. I'm guessing that's also who had the nasty little immature comment to make too. That's ok, It's been reported. I agree with everything you said, but to address the issue of the fence .....We still have several that could find there way to the bypass. It has changed though. Man I miss the old days.:)

Once Ms. Cardwell left Greene Valley, the truth became a very slippery thing, elusive sometimes almost nonexistent. Example, no one can agree on here whether Greene Valley is under court order or not. The QRP was about the court order so you would assume Greene Valley is still under a court order, so all the newspapers across the state who had published accounts about Greene Valley being taking off the settlement agreement were lying to the public. So I tend to agree with you there are things on here which are far from the truth. I do appreciate Jenny H on the block for admitting there are several clients who can fairly easily reach 11E now the fence has been removed. That fence was not there to keep people out nor was it there to keep clients in, it was there as a safety precaution to make it not so easy for clients to come in harm's way. As almost all GVDC employees know, GVDC is an open campus and the person who decided to take that fence down did not have the interest of clients in mind at all.

These 16 investigators,if they exist, should turn in their findings to somebody. If that somebody is a court somewhere then obviously Greene Valley is still under a court order. If however these investigators only report to DIDD in Nashville then ho-hum business as usual, who cares.

I think I know who you are. At least a couple of us knows what's going on. I do realize a few of those guys could get to the street, but I don't think the fence was all that important. They could still go out the front gate. I just wish people will lay off. GVDC. Geez.

I agree! Someone is constantly trying to cause drama. Usually people like "Gvdc watch", ya know....all mouth and brainless. Ehh, I've been against the fence coming down, but what are we gonna do about it. It is what it is.:)

some of you people need to pick up a paper or watch the news.GVDC recives money from the state but a huge portion of the funds they operate on comes comes from the federal gov. ICF is a federal entity that over sees ALL facilaties(private or state) that recive federal funds.QRP is a review panel that was invited by the state to ensure that its facilaties are doing the things they said they would do according to the Dept. of justice law suit.Yes GVDC was released from said law suit,that being said oversight must still continue.The East TN Homes are not under GVDC(Diffrent director,diffrent class code for employees,diffrent name for direct care staff(DSP)They even pay GVDC rent for Dogwood.Get your facts straight next time.

The spelling and grammar are a little off but overall a good presentation. First, calling ICF a federal entity is the same as calling the group homes Greene Valley entities. If the group homes ever become like Comcare, then yes they will become entities not linked to Greene Valley but until that time, no way. It is confusing but think of it this way the Greeneville Light and Power system is an entity to itself but it is also an entity tied to the City of Greeneville, the same is true of Greene Valley and the Group Homes. Let's compare ICF and QRP. ICF is independent and answers only to itself, either GVDC stays in compliance with them or they lose accreditation and ICF money, not federal money. QRP as I understand it is completely different. It came out of the judicial system as a way of showing compliance to a court order. That court order if Dr. Meese was correct has been satisfied and the QRP is no longer a part of the judicial process. It is something left over to make people feel like there is some kind of oversight being kept. The question is if QRP finds something wrong where is the leverage to get the wrong fixed, not with the courts, that is gone, it can only come from DIDD, thus these people are as useless as tits on a boar hog.
