Okay. While I enjoy smoking my cigarettes (no funny stuff), just regular cigarettes which have been around for years, I have a burning question:

You are on the highway, which would you rather have coming at you, someone smoking a regular cigarette or a drinking drunk fool?

I rest my case.

Our country is well on its way of telling us what vice we may enjoy. Drinkers it will get to you at some point, just wait and see.

Shouldn't you of ask it like this? Some FOOL smoking a regular cigarette or a drinking drunk FOOL? Aren't both actually foolish?

You accidentally spill gasoline all over yourself. Who would rather run into someone smoking a cigarette or someone drinking a beer. I rest my case. Makes about as much sense as your question.

I used to drive an old Chevy Van with a lot of play in the steering. It's a wonder I didn't wipe out the left lane while lighting a cigarette. I have a car with a tight front end, now. I feel I'm a lot safer even when I'm driving drunk.

What a doufus! I can't remember the last time someone in my family rode around with gasoline all over them! The answer to their question is this the people of the good old USA are not about to admit that drinking is bad except that maybe it causes liver problems. You will never hear as much about drinking as smoking cause our big politicians probably own half or have interest in the making of the stuff. While smoking kills, drinking kills so many innocent non-drinking people. That would be a better argument. Unless you are smoking the funny stuff your head is still clear when smoking a regular cigarette. Booze (and I'm not knocking it) does kill so many innocent folks every day. Why is there no outrage over this? They both are unhealthy so why do our doctors and politicians not jump on the ban wagon as to how bad drinking is? It's political just like so many things right now. What about gun control. Turn your TV on guys and a gun is stuck right in your face on any given channel. Video games and movies love the thrill of the guns and violence but not one word much about that in the media. Political they want to take our guns, drinking their booze and take cigarettes and ban those who smoke from working -- just look at the Health Alliance in JC now who are actually stating that smokers will not be hired to work for them, although they have to grandfather in those who already do. American is going to hell in a breadbasket hurriedly under the present RULE OF THUMB. Smokers, guns what will they take next? Give um time and next time it will be your vice as has been said. Give um time and we will all be at their mercy. Germany's history is quickly becoming our own.

I didn't say anything about driving with gasoline on you. You are taking the worst of alcohol and comparing it to the best of cigarettes. Second hand smoke kills. That is a fact. Second hand smoke causes severe problems in babies and infants. That is a fact. If I am going to play your game how about this: sitting in a house with someone smoking can kill you eventually but you can sit in a house with me while I drink 24 beers and you will be fine. I might try to sleep with you but you will not die now or in 40 years from it. The thing that kills innocent people is the decision to drive. Alcohol in moderation will not kill you. It actually has some health benefits. Find me one health benefit of cigarettes.

I was raised by acoholics who did both. So I got to breath in there smoke and got the end result of there drinking habits. I was physically and emotionally abused and it was NOT the smoking that did that. When my parents drank they were totally different people. YOu suggest that you might want some sex when you drank well buster for your info there are a lot of daddies who become very bold after drinking and if the mother drinks she could care less what goes on. I hate them both but drinking is seldom done in moderation and most ALL people become different people when they drink as you yourself suggested. Like I said I hate them both but drinking is far more responsible for abusive behavior that one never gets over.

I can easily answer your question they both do harm but drinking changes everybody's behavior.

I too was raised by an abusive alcoholic father. But I am wise enough to know that not everyone that drinks will abuse. You are shifting the blame from your father to the alcohol. The abusive behavior was always there. Wood is just wood until a flame hits it. But the ability to burn was always there. My father has stopped drinking and is a wonderful grandfather to my children. That doesn't change what happened. Had he not had the abusiveness in him the alcohol would not have had that effect on him. I'm sorry you went through what you did, but the alcohol was merely an outlet for your fathers anger to come out.

perhaps the question is - would you rather be free to make your own choices or have a government, comprised of elitist who exempt themselves from the rules, make your choices for you?

Working in the health care system, I have seen families torn apart by alcohol. Drugs of any kind alter the mind. You talk about behavior, sir you have no inkling what drugs, including alcohol does to the mind. Until you get your doctorate degree in medicine, it would serve you to keep your ignorant mouth shut. It is apparent that you enjoy your drug of choice. Until you have held the hand of a six year old lying in blood due to a relative's desires swept away by alcohol or any other drug, you don't know what you are talking about. Glad your dad recovered but if he truly was abusive, if you are smart you will keep an eye on those precious grandchildren.

And what drug of choice would that be? You accuse me of being ignorant, let's see how smart you are. I would hope that a person that works in the medical field would be smart enough to know that not every case of abuse is the result of alcohol or drugs. What you have described is a terrible situation that alcohol played a part in. However there are many people that drink responsibly and place no one in danger.
