My grandparents used to camp here when I was a child. I am now 30 and live by myself.........considering moving to this area. I was hoping this area was not like a lot of places "taken over by drugs". Can you still use the camping and swimming areas?

Don't plan on moving here unless you line up a job first. There are very few jobs, especially for "foreigners". Also, pay here is low compared to other places I have lived and most of the jobs are manufacturing.
I don't live in the Horse Creek area because the area near the park is kind of trashy. I have been here less than 10 years, and don't know what it was like long ago. You know, you can find washing machines, rusted out cars and chickens running loose in the yard.
I would advise renting before you buy. After 10 years I still don't fit in and am looking to move. At first everyone seemed really nice, but the community is really very closed to new people. If I was being anything but honest,I would try to sell you my house so I can move on, but I will hold out to sell to a local and tell you to be wary.

I live in Horse Creek and have all my life. I wouldn't wanna live anywhere else. As far as Horse Creek being trashy that's not true. We take care of our property. And Working Man if ur not making friends u must be doing something wrong. We have several new members in our community that we have welcomed in. Years ago When I was a teen Horse Creek was a rough community but now it's not that bad. Only 1 or 2 thieves that I know of. This is home to me and always will be. And Working Man welcome to our community!!

The camping areas are awesome!!!! I think it looks pretty good up around that area!! I have a lot of friends and family that live there and there isn't a whole of problems there now. Back in the day I wouldn't recommend it to anyone lol. It's pretty nice though!!! Mostly the residents there have lived there all their lives!!!

Any place in Greene County that has a church has all of that except maybe the camp ground. You must not get out much.

Sorry I offended you, but try driving from Erwin Hwy. to Horse Creek campground. Tell me that you can't find the history of the American automobile and Maytag along the way. Maybe other roads in this community look better, but this one doesn't look so good. Honestly, if I didn't live here and thought this was the way to get to a park/campground I would turn around before I made it to the entrance gate.
As for being friendly, you cannot appreciate my perspective because you "have lived here your whole life." Outsiders can't find jobs because they have no local connections; and as I have found, get charged more than locals for services like driveway work, tree trimming, AC. Greeneville is very friendly when you are paying for something, it's when you move in and start looking for work and not attending their church that things get dicey. I would not recommend this community to anyone new and I think most people who have lived here all their lives would be perfectly happy if nobody from anywhere else ever moved in next door.

Daily Horoscope for May 25

Pisces

You're raring to go today, especially on domestic projects. You'll achieve a tremendous amount if you're allowed to proceed at your own pace and in your own time, but you'll soon get ratty if you suspect someone is breathing down your neck or trying to tell you what to do. You'll also feel irritated with people you know really well, so be prepared for a few fireworks.
