Just wondering what is going on at Stan's BBQ. I know Top choice has been doing pretty good and I always hear that people like them. So where does that leave Stan's?

I think Stan's will remain a player. There is enough room for two bbq spots in this town. Stan's has a nice building and the food is pretty good - although I am not a big fan of the bbq. Don't like how they leave the burnt outter layer of the meat on.

Stan's is still putting out the same good food. He has kept his prices in line and the service is always pretty good.

Stans prices are a tad bit high. We really like Top Choice and for two people it's 12 bucks Stans can't do that. Top Choice is right after Gondoliers and then across from Advance on Newport:Ash hwy. Their BBQ is awesome!

We love Stan's! It's a great, casual place to have lunch or dinner. Their BBQ is great, and their chili is the best around. I have never had a bad meal at Stan's. I think their prices are fair and in line with other restaurants with full service.
Top Choice is great for a drive thru, but if you want to have a sit down meal, Stan's is the place to go.
There is plenty of room for both BBQ places!

Well personally I think Stan's has went down the drain, it use to be good. And it depends on who you are whether you get service or not. Top Choice is very good. But it would be nice for them to have a place to sit inside.

Stan has to keep his prices high so he can keep up his daughters drug habit. Her and her boyfriend go to FL and bring back pills. They sold pills to my dauthers friend. Im not going to eat there and support people like that.

Stan's has the best BBQ around. I know nothing about his daughter, but I seriously doubt that Stan's prices are high because he wants to support her "drug habit". If it doesn't make sense, then I'd say it's not true...

Not sure about him 'supporting' her habit, but what you say is true. They have sold pills to many people. So sad, his daughter really is a sweet girl who got messed up in some stuff.

Parents can't help what their children turn to after they are grown up. Give Stan a break. It has nothing to do with his business. He has good food and some great employees. Paulette B. and Phyllis V. are super ladies and great for his business!

It does not depend who you are. The waitresses do talk to regulars more than the random strangers but it has nothing to do with who you are.
The servers get to know the customers who come more frequently than those that come in once every 2 months. I think they are just more willing to talk to those they see a lot.

And to the posts that say his daughters are druggies? No. Kim and Stan have worked hard for their business and they wouldn't risk it on pills. Erin and Caitlin are sweet girls and CLEAN. Don't hate on them of you have a problem with the food.

I've never even heard of Top Choice. Either way though, I will always support Stan's and the entire Fortner family. Kim and Stan are both wonderful people and Erin and Caitilin have turned into good adults. Yes Caitilin had some issues but she has done a wonderful job at cleaning her self up and getting her life back on track. I love the food at Stan's and I've always had wonderful service and the prices are more than fair.

I have always and will always love Stan's. However, lately I've been less than pleased with my experiences with picking up call in orders. Chicken salads (which are delicious) with no chicken or dressing, a box full of bbq and no sides, and once I was given a completely different order than what I placed. All times when I called to tell them about it, the person on the phone was completely remorseless and even once I was asked "Well, what do you expect me to do?". After that time, I hung up, called back a little later, and asked for Stan. I was told he wasn't available and I left a message. After two days and no response, I called and had to leave yet another message. To this day - no call back. I also called a couple times in regards to having them cater a very large party for me and was told I had to talk to Stan. After four, yes FOUR messages I still hadn't heard back so I went with a company from outside Greeneville.

Again, I will repeat that I love Stan's and I'm still a patron. However, if I encounter much more of the attitude and lack of both professionalism and customer service, I won't be for much longer.
