Dr. Vicki Kirk, Director of Greene County Schools, proudly announces the selection of school leaders at North Greene High School, West Greene High School, Ottway Elementary, and Camp Creek Elementary.“We are pleased to welcome these educators to school leadership positions in Greene County. Together they bring knowledge, experience, and the vision to help lead these schools to even greater success,” states Kirk.

Mr. Calvin Decker has been selected as principal of North Greene High School. Mr. Decker is a graduate of Cherokee High School. He earned his B.S. from Tennessee Technological University and later received his Masters of Education from Tusculum College. He earned his administrative certification through Lincoln Memorial University. He began his teaching career at Bulls Gap where he taught students in 4th -8th grade. He then taught for nine years at Cherokee High School where he also coached varsity basketball. From 2001-2012, he was employed at Morristown East High School as a teacher and coach, and he served there as assistant principal for six years. For the 2012-2013 school year, he was principal of Miller Boyd Alternative School in Hamblen County. Mr. Decker’s teaching experience includes: algebra, science, government, wellness, driver’s education, P.E. and safety. He has coached volleyball, baseball, and basketball. He and his wife, Teresa, have two children, Lindsey and Leah. Mr. Decker states,“I am looking forward to the start of a new adventure and new challenges.”

Ms. Deborah Scarlett joins the faculty and staff of West Greene High School as Assistant Principal. Scarlett grew up in Oklahoma with an agricultural ranching background and held state offices in both 4H and FFA. She won the State Horse Proficiency Award for Oklahoma and continued to Oklahoma State University receiving a B.S. in Animal Science and a minor in Public Relations and Journalism. After a brief stint in journalism, Scarlett began her employment in education at Middle Tennessee State University where she earned a M.A. in English Education and acquired appointment as Instructor of Developmental Studies and Judging Team Coach as well as professorship duties in the Animal Science Department. She later accepted a professorship at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville while working on her Ed.D. in Leadership Studies. For the past ten years, Scarlett has taught at Morristown West High School and she has served in an administrative capacity for three years. She was awarded the MWH Teacher of the Year Award in 2007. She has also served as Language Arts Department Chair, 504 Coordinator, S-Team Chair, and Instructional Coach. Deborah and her husband, John Neal Scarlett, reside in New Market with their two children. Their 4th generation family farm produces soybeans, wheat, corn, and sunflowers, and has a Holstein dairy herd, a few horses, and a dog named Sheriff.

Dr. Kirk announces the selection of Mr. Dennis Wilds as the principal at Ottway Elementary School. Dennis is a 1997 graduate of Cocke County High School. He attended East Tennessee State University from 2000-2004, where he earned a BA in Elementary Education. He began teaching in 5th grade in Sullivan County for one year, and he has taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grades in Cocke County for the past eight years. Dennis earned his Masters of Education in Administration and Supervision from Bethel University. He is married to Sierra Wilds, and they have six year old twins, Hayden and Shawna. They attend Crossroads Community Church in Newport, Tennessee. Mr. Wilds states,“I am extremely excited and grateful for the opportunity to be an educational leader in Greene County. I am looking forward to building positive relationships with the faculty/staff, students, parents, and community of Ottway!”

Dr. Kirk announces the selection of Dr. Amy Hall as the principal at Camp Creek Elementary School. Dr. Hall is a native of Hamblen County. After graduating from Morristown East High School, she attended Walter’s State Community College for two years and then transferred to Carson Newman College to complete her BS degree in Elementary Education. Later, she returned to Carson Newman to earn her Masters degree in Curriculum and Supervision. In 2006, Dr. Hall received her Educational Specialists degree in Administration and Supervision from Lincoln Memorial University. Most recently, she earned her Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership and Policy Analysis from East Tennessee State University. Dr. Hall has spent 21 years in education serving as a classroom teacher, reading specialist, and Title I Coordinator; and has been recognized as a National Board Certified Teacher. She has presented at several conferences including the regional Title I Conference held yearly in Gatlinburg. Dr. Hall lives in Morristown with her husband, Craig, and four children.
