The care at Laughlin Hospital is nonexistent. They do not give baths, they give you a bag of baby wipes and tell you to do it yourself. If you get your bed changed you are lucky. The management there don't care about anything but public image and themselves. Most of the upper management have children sent to college to fill management postions so it is all kept in family. Noah Roark is running the place in the ground and no one cares. If you know what is good for you don't go there. Several long term employee have recently lost their jobs and a head nurse was recently replaced so daddy's daughter could have the job. Laughlin Hosital does not deserve being "Greeneville's Hospital"

I know for a fact that the care at Laughlin Hospital is bad. My sister was in there for three days and I was the one who changed her bed. Thank God she could take her own shower.

And how is this different from every other "business" in Greeneville? It has taken this inbred town a century to get it's nepotistic formula just right. It even extends into the "state" jobs for this county that rely on local staffing agencies to supposedly find qualified candidates. The words EOE here are a joke. You can't even hire a lawyer to do anything about it because they understand the way it works and are unwilling to rock the boat because they won't have enough local business if they take your case. I can't wait to leave Greeneville.

If they didn't give your sister a bath it was probably because she was able to take her own bath. If they didn't change her bed it was probably because they noticed that you had already changed the bed and they thought you were just being nice by helping out. Maybe they were busy assisting other people to the restroom and cleaning poop off their disabled bodies. Maybe they were short handed because someone called in sick. Maybe they had an emergency and someone in the next room was having a massive heart attack or getting a blood transfusion. If you have never worked as a nurse or an aide then you really have no idea what those people deal with on a daily basis. No matter what hospital you go to there will always be good nurses and bad nurses. It depends on the person. I do agree that N.R. doesn't care about his employees. If you aren't related to someone important then he has no respect for you. The only good thing I can say about him is that he does want the hospital to succeed and excel. It is unfair to judge any hospital as a whole. I know there are some fine human beings that work there and do whatever they can to make the patients and their family members happy. If you have a family member that is in the hospital then you should be there by their side helping to take care of them. It's easy to point fingers at the hospital staff and blame them for everything. But the employee you are pointing your finger at is probably taking care of ten other patients also. Giving them all baths and making their beds. Cleaning the stinky poop off them and cleaning up the blood when they get confused or combative and rip out their IV. It's not an easy job. Everyone should try it at least once.
Whatever

Maybe they were texting or plotting to get their friend an upgraded job. You can maybe it all you want. The bottom line is, as much as a hospital charges, they should never be under staffed.

I agree with everything else you said. But this "business" should be different from all of the others. There is no excuse for not caring for their patients. Laughlin sucks.

The hospital charges people a lot of money. A lot of people don't pay their bills. Medicine can be very expensive.

You are right. When I was younger and more naive, I actually thought hospitals cared...that they were not some run of the mill business. Sadly, I found out different. Profits are more important than people, even in a hospital.
When we moved here I was delighted with the idea of having two local hospitals to choose from. I was certainly deluded. I have either been to or taken immediate family members to both local hospitals and to JC. I would drive the distance to JC whenever possible.

I actually am a tech and I work at JCMC(4 years) and I know for a fact that the aides/nurses did as litter as they can get away with! Almost crossing the line into neglect. My father was at Laughlin for a G.I bleed and he was in the floor from 4am until we came in at 6am! I had him transfered to the VA the second I found home and he got the care he wasn't getting from Laughlin!

I agree a lot of people don't pay their bills. What I've been told is that the hospital is one of the few places that can take any possession you own to get their payment.

Patients are paying exorbitant prices for healthcare. Especially for the care they get at Laughlin. People come to the hospital because they can't be cared for at home. Why should their family care for them? That's why you make the big money.
TN is the only state I have been in where the family cares for patients WHILE in the hospital or nursing home. What are you people doing? Sitting around acting like you are 'charting.'
YOU knew the job was tough when you took it.
It's not the patient's fault it is management's fault shifts are not covered. It's about the $$$. If they didn't have an extreme excess of money they would never have had to funnel the money to open a nursing home.
NR has always been a POS. Why hasn't there been a combined an effort to get rid of him?

The family members should help take care of their family. I helped the nurses take care of my mama when she was sick. As far as the "charting" goes the nurses do have a lot of charting they are required to do because it is required by state law.

If I lived close to Laughlin and had a heart attack, it wouldn't be wise to drive to Tacoma though.
