I'm still trying to get this straight. Apparently, there was a medical emergency with the child, else she wouldn't have been in the Emergency Room, so she noticed a drop of blood in the floor, takes a picture of it, LEAVES with the child who is in need of emergency medical care and contacts the news media? So was the child treated elsewhere for the emergency medical condition? Maybe at the other medical facility in Greeneville?!?!?

you know every time a laughlin post comes up I hear alot of nurses talking about TN care and it is not just poor people who raise hell. The next thing that comes up is call CPS take some ones kids away wow that is low. But the thing that pisses me off is when nurses come on and leak out peoples symptoms and private stuff that is Patient confidential which is HIPPA which is a law. I can under stand nurses coming on and defending the hospital but you are leaking far too much information on clients, caution. Be a nurse even when not in uniform caring hands come from the heart. These post are trackable and can be used in court and reprinted and you do the hospital no justice nor your job.

Ok, from here on out when you have an emergency, and need to go to a place where there just happens to be sick and bleeding people, We need to get in the big bubble and go in...

We are talking about first did anyone tell somebody there was blood out there? and they just ignored it?

or did people just sit there and point and whisper?, cause I for one have never seen them just come through the waiting area to check for blood splatter!!

Understood completely, but that isn't what I was referring to in any post. That is a whole different set of issues. My point was concerning blood and the harms it could have nowadays. In the 30's-40's you didn't have wide spread disease such as HIV/Hep. Things have changed and if your thought patterns haven't followed suit, it may be time to brush up on today's culture.
@ Realist, I may have been a bit sharp. But, calling something or someone idiotic simply means without knowledge of. If I wanted to be mean I would have just called someone a dumb ass. But that wouldn't have truly been what needed to be said about the statements.
Was it really blood?Who said it was?Was it fresh or dried up?This all sounds like a bunch of crap to me..From what i saw on television, you could hardly see it,if it even was blood...S--- stirring people..

I do not think he acted nervous at all.He handled it very well.WJHL really looked foolish with this report. If true,I am sure LMH is not the only hospital with blood splatters.Who in the H with a sick child would take time to take a picture??PLEASE....

I would love for each one of you who have nothing better to do than bash nurses to come and spend a day in a nurse's shoes. Dodging thrown poop, getting puked on, spit at, threatened, and hit is a typical day for an ED nurse. All the while you are chasing confused patients who are pulling out IVs and taking their clothes off. Stabbings that walk through your back door dropped off by the homeboy taxi service NO scheduled break time or bathroom breaks. Why do we do it? Because we love taking care of the patients who truly appreciate what we do because WE ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE. WE CARE!!

In reference to "Observer". The amount of blood was quite minuscule. I have heard from someone who SEEN it, that it was a speck. It had more than likely been looked over during a clean up. Which isn't that big of a deal for sure. It is something to call an attending in and ask for it to be cleaned. I agree, that is NO reason to cause this much stink. I was beside myself when I seen so many people considering blood to be so harmless. "Seasoned Nurse", your job is demanding and stressful. But, at the same time, you get compensated quite well to do that job. II hope you didn't take offence to my comments, they were not to degrade healthcare employees.

RN's dont make what you think. Sadly, the only RNs making any money are the ones who have been doing it for years. New nurses are making what factory workers make. Trust me, I left factory and wish I hadn't.

RN's do make more money than a factory worker. I would say you were correct if you were talking about an LPN's wages. This area doesn't pay nurses as well as they should, I will give you that. Also, you need to consider the working conditions and job security (you don't have it in a factory). If you strive for more money, then further your education or move. Wages are lower here than most of the country and that may be what you are referring to.

I would imagine the small things (aka dumb shit) are a lot easier to handle. I understand the petty things take attention from those in a true emergency, but there would be a lot less RN's hired to do that job if the petty people didn't come through. Also, telling someone to go to Takoma?? really?? Be happy you have a job in a nice controlled climate that pays decent and gives you decent benefits. Be happy people are coming in for anything at all. Otherwise, you are on the street with a diploma in your hand.

Calm down, honey, no need to shout.(-: I really think more people sympathize with the BS you folks have to tolerate on a daily basis than not. I appreciate and respect those who chose a career helping others under the worse possible circumstances and Iím sure Iím not the only one. Thank you (and your co-workers) for all that you do!

It it's an emergency room not a trauma unit! Just because blood isn't gushing doesn't mean it's not an emergency. Maybe the child should have been taken to his Dr earlier in the day, or even the next day.....her point was that LMH is a dirty hospital from what I saw (heard). And RN's do make lots more $$ than any factory worker! Still, a persons job title should never keep them from making sure a hospital room is clean or not. Are you so overworked that had you seen what was complained about, you would have just walked away?

Someone posted the Doctors should clean up blood if they see it. That is hilarious!! Most Doctors don't think they should wipe their own a$$, let alone anyone elses mess.
Too funny.
