Has anyone used a lawyer to get their child support lowered? How much did the lawyer cost? Did it do any good?

You CAN afford a lawyer & court costs; but can't afford or want to pay your child??!!
DUUUHHHH!!
That is so low & sad!
Remember..They grow up!
What will he/she think when they hear that you didn't want to help support them ? Or that you went to extremes to pay the least amount that you could get by with?
Once they are grown, you can never rewind or do it over. Then if you have any heart at all; you will live with what you did & how you made them feel for the rest of your life.
Think it over!

You must be a really good Christian to automatically assume the worst of a person and their situation you nothing about. Either that or you're just a complete a$$hole. You just get a single thought in that little brain and get to ranting as if it must be the only possibility.
The person asks how much a lawyer costs and you just go to town telling them they CAN afford a lawyer and this and that...How the fck do you know what they can afford you presumptuous bitch?
Maybe the person has become unemployed or is no longer making as much money as they used to and doesn't have enough money to pay a child support amount that was put in place when they were making a lot more money and could afford it.
The reality is neither YOU or I know why they asked the question they did and what their situation is.

How bout next time you keep your mouth shut until you actually have at least a few details instead of just your own assumptions. People like you are pathetic and need a good swift kick in the head.
And "Disgusted" you're just as big a douche-bag for hopping on mamaw's coattails and acting the same way.

Noticed that did you? Yes I did exactly the same thing because they deserve to be treated the same way they are treating others.
The difference is I did it knowingly, on purpose, and to be ironic. They did it because they are presumptuous self-righteous sh*theads.

Well.....if the case isn't just some lame ass who don't wanna accept responsibility and it is really something such as losing a job, you don't need to hire a lawyer what so ever you go to child support office and pay a $75 fee and file for a modification of child support and they will reevaluate your case. Usually they schedule a date within a month or so and if you still feel you are being wronged which is rare considering it's income based. But if you still do feel you have been wronged you can request a court appointed lawyer I have only dealt with this once but lawyer appointed was good.

WOW!..Seems as though I offended someone.
Could it be that you too have done the same?
first of all, I would take my last piece of bread & give it to my child FIRST!
(because THEY are FIRST to me!).
Second of all, the children didn't ask to be brought into this SELFISH,ME,ME world!
Since they have been;its a CARING & LOVING PARENTS responsibility to put them FIRST & above ALL!!
As I said before; If you can afford a lawyer & court costs, surely you can afford to take care of your responsibility instead of running from it!
You called me a B****; but let me tell you one thing more,
When it comes to children & their care...
I'm 'THE B****!!'.
Get it right next time!!

You truly are pathetic, you just don't get it do you.
The diarrhea runs out of that hole in your face at full steam based on nothing but your assumptions. I was wrong, you're not a bitch you're just a dumb fckin' self righteous c*nt with a big mouth and I hope someone takes that soap box you prize so much and beats you over the head with it. It's sad you have children as they will probably grow up to be as stupid and useless as you are. Do them a favor and give them up for adoption before you ruin their lives permanently.

We have talked to an attorney before about child support, visitation, and custody. The attoreny asked for a $1,000 retainer. So I would say it's somewhere in that area for any attorney in town.

this is from my own personal experience.. I pay little over $700 month for my child and only get to see the child 100 days a year.. My child never has any decent clothes on when I go to school to eat lunch w/ the child and the child always makes the comments about her mommy being poor and can't buy her anything.. There are very self absorbed women out there that could care less that their child is considered "dirty" when going to school.Rather than allowing me to get my child extra days she has the child stay w/ all her other relatives just b/c she knows it hurts me... So b4 you go jumping someone over a simple question, you should get the facts first.. and no, I have not made a request to lower my support b4 you call me a deadbeat. But I dont believe it's her mothers place to blow all my childs money

Exactly!!..I agree.
That goes for women as well as men!
You should have your child & raise her.
The mother should then have to pay.
There are excellent fathers as well as there are mothers.
I see it ALL the time.

I do agree with you sir.

Its not the support of a child that pisses men off a lot of times. With exception of the deadbeats out there most men want to support their children. A lot of times the support is set ridiculously too high even if it is based on income. Afterall the dad still has to support himself. The pisser is when the dad is busting his ass to provide support and they never or rarely see the benefit of such support. Some women are shameful. Notice I said some. The kids have little or nothing to show for said support while mom is having a good time enjoying her new income with trips to get her hair did and shopping and she may throw something in for the kid ocassionally just to ease her conscious once in a while. Not to mention where's moms contribution of support? Here's a twist. It should be law that every person getting a support payment be required to submit receipts to total the amount of support they have been awarded with allowances for utilities of course not forgetting you the mother owns half responsibility in this also. The receipts should be child related. Hint hint. You know your out there. You know its the truth. Now when a man tries to adjust his payment because he's drowning or some other good reason there are those who are quick to accuse and assume the worst. The child knows if your doing your best or not. Yes they do grow up one day and they don't forget.

It didn't say anything you idiot, in the old saying you're referring to it's the pot talking to the kettle.

Secondly, you must have the reading comprehension of a kindergartener if you're trying to point out that I was doing the same thing the other person was doing when I admitted I did so on purpose and explained why. Now shut up and gtfo of here.

Very well said! I need a lawyer as well, but can I afford one...no! Will I find a way to afford one, ya damn right! Just as I find a way to pay the ridiculous amount of child support I have to pay each month, while having joint custody and visitation 183 days a year. Just because someone asks how much it cost to hire a lawyer, doesn't AUTOMATICALLY mean that they have the money. It COULD (I mean, just maybe) mean that they want to know roughly how much it will cost, so that they can go to the bank and see if they qualify for a loan in that amount. It's bitches like you, that give father's a bad name PERIOD!
