A Greeneville man was arrested Thursday morning and is being held on multiple charges following a high-speed chase.

The incident started around 9:15 Thursday when a white SUV was seen driving erratically near Davis and Clem Streets. Officer Eric Scott of the Greeneville Police Department reported that he lost sight of the vehicle, then located it several blocks away.

At that point, the driver led police on a pursuit that covered Church, Sunset and Summer Streets. After being slowed by traffic at the light at the 70 Bypass, the driver turned onto Arnold Road and then Cox Circle before being stopped.

Police forcibly removed the driver from the SUV and placed him into handcuffs, and a search revealed a small baggie with a white powdery substance in his jacket pocket.

The driver, 31-year-old Shawn J. Hicks of Birchwood Lane, was charged with driving under the influence fifth offense, felony evading arrest, driving on a revoked license eighth offense and simple possession of a schedule 2 drug.

Hicks is in the Greene County Detention Center and will appear in court this morning.

Per WGRV on Saturday 02/22/12:

Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division continue to gather information after a man was shot Thursday night at a Greeneville residence.

42-year-old Christopher James Pelzel of Oak Ridge was wounded in the chest around 4:45 Thursday afternoon at 125 Woodlyn Street.

Police received a call that a man had been shot and that the suspect was still on the scene. Upon arrival, they were met at the door by a woman who had been attending to Pelzel.

The alleged shooter was also in the room sitting on a chair using the computer, with two guns next to him. Investigators determined that a .357 Magnum was the weapon used in the shooting, and also took a semi-automatic gun for processing.

Pelzel was transferred to the Johnson City Medical Center for treatment of his injury. No charges have been filed yet pending completion of the investigation.

There was no shooting and Mark Kesterson has nothing do to with it. Stop spreading rumors, people jump to conclusions and I sure wouldn't want to hear news like this, especially when it's a rumor. Get a lift you morons.

I'm curious what he was shot over? I've heard several stories. I know he's fine now but he asked me out once. He seemed nice but I'm not impressed with a shooting you cant explain . He did SOMETHING to be shot.

Yes he is and has cameras all over his house inside and out. He's been caught too many times with too much not to be under the jail unless he's on their payroll. He thinks he can do anything he wants in this town and get away with it but then again he has. What a shame he's a low life pos.
