My brother was arrested 10 years ago for running over his x girlfriend and killng her.He pled guilty to a lesser charge and is suppose to be off his record also.I am 48,hes 44,I watched him grow up and he has a terrible temper, more so when it comes to women. She broke up with him the night he ran her over.
In the past year he decided to get into nursing,I dont think its a good idea considering his past.He says he is fine now.Wants to move on with his life since he was cut from his job as a factory worker in another state. I know people can change but you have to know my brother. He has no respect for women what so-ever.
I tried to change his mind and it hasnt worked.
I offended some in a previous post,so thats why I thought I would tell our story. He would like your feed back also,I told him I was posting his story and is fine with it,early this morning by phone.
He is involved in this and wants your feed-back also. This is not a personal attack on anyone else.So if you posted on a previous thread and were offended,we do apologize. You can also contact me by e-mail @ [email protected] if you would like to keep your imput private.Thank you all..Selena

Selena I stopped reading the previous post when it became stupid. Now if your brother is sure that charge is off his record, then by all means he should pursue his dream. Expungement orders/records are sent to the TBI, so he could be sure with a simple phone call. It sounds like he's been given that rare second chance. He should hold his head high and study hard. I wish him the best.

The only thing that got my feathers ruffled was the part about how he has "no respect for women whatsoever". If he is planning on going into nursing... he better get some respect! Cause like it or not... nursing is a WOMAN"S WORLD!! I think anyone deserves a second chance, but if the thinks the judicial system was rough on him... he aint seen nothin yet if he thinks he can bully and disrespect us old mean nurses! So tell Bro to go for it... I hope he does well. But just learn some respect and control that temper. Nursing and disrespect for your co-workers and patients.... just won't get it! Spoken by an old ER/ICU nurse! Who knows all too well how to put him in his place if need...

When I wrote this,I never dreamed there would be so much drama attached and over people who had nothing to do with any of this.I feel sorry for those of you that cant resist treating others so bad.May you get a life and back on your meds so you wont be so miserable and your only goal in life will not be making others miserable as well.

A felony conviction usually rules you out for most professional licenses. But it can also be up to the Board. If he is in school, he needs to discuss this with the faculty before he wastes time and money taking classes that won't do him any good. He should request a complete background check from a private investigator. Then he will know what others will see.

If somebody gets a pardon or the equivalent, there is nothing stopping a convicted felon from doing whatever they want. A pardon is not really that difficult to obtain. Im sorry it upsets some of you to know that people can actually stop being punished after they have served their time.

I really dont think he would pass the finger printing and background check..i agree that he needs to find out before he spends alot of time and money on college courses and then cant get accepted to the nursing program. But keeping in mind that nurses have to be compassionate. Its our job to preserve and protect life. How can someone capable of taking a life have a sudden revelation and is now ok? You never mentioned if he had any type if psychiatric evaluation or treatment. Everyone deserves a second chance but i really dont think he will find it in nursing. I have a family member who only had misdimeanor charges and cant get into a CNA class.

People should have to pass an ethics test before being allowed into the healthcare field so that we can find out if they are Christian or not. People who aren't Christian aren't capable of appreciating the sanctity of life. If you had an accident and were in the ER, would you want somebody who ain't a Christian treating you?? I don't think so. My dad always said that these ER doctors, especially from up north and the Indian/Paki doctors, are always in a hurry to kill you so they can take your organs and put them in someone else.
