The mistakes of other socialist countries such as Norway, Denmark, and Sweden who consistently are listed as having the highest standard of living in the world?

The prosperity of these countries notwithstanding, the United States was more "socialist" in the 1950's when the top marginal tax rate was 90%! The top capital gains tax rate in the 1950s and 1960s was 25%, 35% in the 1970s.

Our top tax rate is now 35% and capital gains stands at 15%.

Ironically, no one is asking to go back to the "socialism" of the 1950's and hike top tax rates to 90%.

You can't blame the illegals for wanting a piece of the pie, the melting pot is where everyone wanted to live once upon a time. Put yourself in their shoes, dirt floors making $3.00 a week " or " huddling up in a house

We could learn from them by coming together like the illegals ( look at how strong they are united) instead of the constant who is right or left.
They united in an illegal voting machine for Obama. Yep that is the kind of people I want to live next to. How about all the rest of us who went through hell and high water to become a legal citizen the "legal" way. Wow how stupid we were.

Illegals can vote ? That's why I stay out of politics, baaahaha ..........I have a big heart and feel bad for the needy people that do without , yet I don't agree with extreme left policies. I guess I'm a registered Republican for good reason, I always vote for what's right and do right and live right.

Yea when I'm not into a great novel or watching Sex In The City marathons , for the love of Sarah Jessica Parker, then I tend to ramble about nothing. Kind of like Seinfeld, haha. Don't get me started on racism; I'm part Cherokee.

Have you ever wondered why the Scandinavian countries consistently have "the highest standard of living in the world?" Check their demographics on black and Latino population. Check their immigration policies. Go ahead, call me a racist, be politically correct, and then try your damnedest to prove me wrong, because I'm not. I am just telling the truth that you don't want to hear.

Actually, Anders Behring Breivik killed 77 people in Norway, because felt that the immigration policy in his country was to lax.

Here is a fun exercise, you can try it yourself!

I just went to East Tennessee Mugshots website that is often plugged on topix. I went through the first 15 pages of pictures, and here is what I found:

Of the 86 suspects pictured:

-80 were white (93%)
-4 were black (4.65%)
-2 were latino*(2.3%)

*Note: one of the two categorized as "latino" was a female who looked very Caucasian, but who had a classically Hispanic last name.

Now here is the neat part:

According to the 2010 census, Greene County demographics show:

-96.44% of residents are white
-2.11% of residents are black
-1.02% of residents are latino

Now, if I were to add data points by going through all 528 pages of mugshots (which I sorely tempted to do), statistics tell me that if we break down arrest percentages by race, they will roughly reflect the make-up of the population.

And they already do reflect the make-up of the population within a standard deviation.

I hope that you don't equate the educational level of Greene County with the Scandinavian countries. As far as the guy killing 77 people, the blacks kill that many in Chicago alone every couple of months.

Here is a fun exercise, you can try it for yourself! If you extrapolate the data from your East Tennessee Mugshots, out of your small sample of 86, there should be .8872 Latinos , instead of 2, and 1.786 blacks , instead of 4, if the percentages were the same as the population. That is 2.11% of 86, and 1.02% of 86.

Since there are 2 Latinos and 4 blacks in your sample, those 2 groups are over represented by 225% and 220% of what they would be if they merely had the same percentage arrested as their respective percentage of the population. From your sample, Blacks and Latinos are over twice as likely to wind up in East Tennessee Mugshots. Your statistics, not mine. If you want to rely on them, those are the facts.

Both, and where I come from inflammatory is spelled with 2 a's. I have lived in 4 states , 6 cities, and have a degree in Statistics. Would you care to debate the facts of my posts, or shall we just swap insults, my friend?

No need to get so defensive, really, just asking is all. I've encountered extreme prejudice in the area, as I'm sure you have as well, so just trying to get a feel from where you're coming from is all.

BTW: Let me introduce myself, my name's Rick Cannon, newly arrived from Atlanta, GA and who may you be, sir?

Malcolm. That is all you need to know. Do I show extreme prejudice, or just list facts and statistics that you consider prejudicial because you can't refute them?

Fair enough, "Malcolm". You have your numbers, I have mine, and I'm sure a thousand others can refute us both statistically or mathematically so there you go. Good luck with your research and endeavor, my friend. Seriously! Rick (-;

The U.S. Census recently reconfigured its algorithm to take into account medical costs and government programs. The new overall poverty rate is 16.1%. Latinos have a poverty rate of 28%, Asians 16.9%, Blacks 25.7%, Whites 11%. Get to the reasons for the poverty rates, and you will get to the reasons for the crime rates. Some of the problem can be attributed to different cultures. A lot of it can be attributed to out of wedlock birth and the breakdown of the family. A lot of the breakdown of the family can be traced to welfare programs taking the place of the father in the home.
You can't solve a problem until you admit that there is a problem. Keep your head in the sand and be politically correct. We certainly wouldn't want to offend anyone, even if the country goes down the tubes in the meantime.

When you flood the job market with cheap labor, everyone's standard of living drops.
There will be an exodux again. This time it will be Americans moving to another country instead of "coming to the U.S." Our family is already discussing this.

Just cut through the bull crap. If you work for a living and have a dream (whether you reach that dream or not) you prove to be a productive resident no matter where you live. On the flip side, if you sit on your backside waiting for hand outs from the government (the people who work for a living) you prove to be an unproductive resident no matter where you live. The productive residents are getting restless and tired of the takers.
