Greeneville police captain Teddy Lawing was arrested June 6th in Newport for DUI. I just have to say its about [email protected]*ing time. This man has been a danger to the driving public for many years in Greeneville. He has been stoped for DUI at least 4 times by the GPD and they escort him home. What would you do as a policeman if you pulled over your boss? Well I guess Newport police dint know who he was. From the way I understand, Teddy Lawing was given a choice of resign or get help and he resigned. You will not read this in the Greeneville Sun. Has anyone heard of this?

I can't vouch for the minutiae of your story but I can say most police departments will try to protect each other and sweep this kind of stuff under the rug. If true I am glad Newport did their job!

Go to my place. You can see cops drinking there and some top drunk top drive home but nothing done. If you are going to drink do it at home and stay off the roads. Stupid!

I have a friend that was a trooper in TN. He drove intoxicated all the time. Eventually he failed a random drug test. They game him the option to volunteraly resign, which he did. He is in no way a bad person, but he did break the law, and fell prey to addiction.

A eventual member of my family was one of the biggest snitches in Greeneville. He terrozized the family for many years. With my own eyes and knowledge of TN law, he should have been charged with attempted first degree murder, aggravated assalau, child abuse, aggravated burglary, aggrdvated battery, domestic assault, vandism,... and the list goes on. He is a snitch, and would contact his handler everytime he broke the law, Greeneville police let this man terrorize our family for atleast 10 years. If I had not been so young I would have hurt this man. Greeneville police failed my family, all he had to do was rat a few people out and the law let him terrorize our family.

This is a true comment on the policeman. He's been an alcoholic for many years. Only his arrest was on June 13. Newport and Greeneville, for some reason, are working together to keep this one under wraps. Why? Everyone else gets their names in the paper when they break the law and sometimes even their pictures. Why not him? It's not fair and it will be made public knowledge. Former Captain Lawing's name will be sullied. To the officer that upheld the law no matter what, kudos to a job well done. The public will take over now.

Well I spoke too soon. Newport did not do their job, instead they lived up to their corrupt reputation as usual. Congratulations to Greeneville's finest you're in the sewer with Newport now.

Google topic releasing info on liable posts. I'm sure Lawing has attorneys already filing requests for information. He was not a dumb person.

You were very accurate with this story, and you beat the Greeneville Sun by 15 days. I imagine the Sun was waiting for the "trial"...LOL. Anyway, a $700 fine...is that the new standard for everyone who wrecks their vehicle and is dui? Or is that just reserved for those above the law?

Im proud of Greeneville Sun for reporting this. If you were to meet Teddy Lawing out in public you would walk away saying "Thats a nice man". Let me just say this man has a very dark side. From drinking himself into total black outs, to domestic abuse. He has violated several peoples civil rights in this city. Greeneville is a safer city now that Teddy is off the GPD. Be assured Teddy you haven't fooled everyone. Now go pass out with the goats again. As you drive by his house on Locust Street and see his blacked out windows just understand he is hiding a lot of secrets in there. Dont be FOOLED.
