I am so upset to learn that the new piano player at Trinity church is in the "Busted Paper" for her second DUI. She was brought in from out of town and given this job. I would bet that if all the good people that attend that church knew this woman had this problem they would have never given her this job. It should have went to the young lady that applied for it that had gone to church there for twenty years. Karma can really bite you in the butt sometimes.

I have to agree. Why does our church have to fill a position outside the church if someone who goes there is capable and wants to fill the position? This is a problem in a lot of churches. Get on the internet, go visit people who don't live here, etc. Why? Why? Why? At least if it is someone who the congregation is familiar with, there should not be any surprises. I guess outsourcing has reached the local churches and that's sad.

Hippo crates? I didn't know we had hippos here. Or maybe we only have the crates and no hippos. Gotta love this town.

Wow.. if Trinity did that... they should be ashamed.. That is pretty low when someone in your church has been there and wants the job, and they bring someone else in to do it, forget the DUI.. the church should take a good hard look at itself and what it thinks it is doing...pretty sad commentary on the state of all of our churches today.

The same thing happened at a Main St church. It wasn't with the pianist, but with another position. The local person who was scoffed at for applying has moved on to bigger and better. The one who was hired only lasted a year.

I really think this post is unnecessary..Trinity has had its share of problems and is trying to rebuild.Don't stir....

I don't see what the problem is. The Baptists are the only ones that don't admit that they consume alcohol. And maybe she didn't need to drink before she started working for a church.

Do you think their are not any hypocrites that are atheist, wiccan, or agnostic. Hypocrites are every where. Not just in dominations pertaining to Church, but in every day life. I am not responsible for other people's sins, just my own.

When we left Towering Oaks Baptist that was all they had was out of town people on staff. Well maybe one or two in the office but not the pastorial staff. They seem to want to bring in folks from where the pastor is from out in Louisiana or somewhere. In this day and time churches need to hire local people. Way to many freaks out in the world today to get people they don't know nothing about except from an interview or two. A church down in Baileyton caught a pastor looking at porn and he was from out of town. Course they let him go. I think they hire people out of town so when something goes wrong they are hoping some of the people won't follow them since their not from here. That's just a dumb thing to do. Eventually that catches up with a church. And what is with all the new guitar stuff in churches. Give me an organ and piano any day. That old time religion was good enough from me and all the generations before, why not now?

i believe all of you need to pray about your decisions before you make them, and God will send you who you need to help your church

Churches aren't the only ones who don't hire local people for positions. We hear over and over to shop in Greeneville; however, when positions in our community are open, those hiring don't always "shop in Greeneville", even though there are equally qualified local people for the jobs. Think of school personnel, teachers especially coaches, college administration, bank presidents, firemen, and the list goes on and on of positions filled by people not from Greeneville. It is certainly discouraging especially to our young people to see positions filled by non-community people.
