Can someone work this one out for me then (using evolutionary theory please) Let's look at babies. We are the most advanced animal on this planet, yet we don't become self-sufficient until we are around 15 years old (some of us earlier, some later), yet horses that are obviously less evolved than us are self-sufficient in mere hours. This seems counter intuitive to the evolutionary explination to how we came to be, and that makes me wonder. If we are the end all and be all to evolution on this planet, why are our young the most helpless of basically all baby animals on this planet.

It comes down to the thought process and lack of instincts. Horses learn all the need to survive in a few hours. They don't need to learn how to read, write, work, and do things to survive to the extent we do.

Well, no they don't have to learn to read, write, etc., but they do have to learn their own set of survival skills just like we do. Also, this excuse couldn't be used for people in places like the Amazon that still live in Tribal culture. The don't need the skills that you referenced.

And have a shorter life expectancy, so the ratio is still basically the same when looking at the time needed to become matured. Also, culturally self sufficient and biologically matured are not the same. That is what I meant by "Self Sufficient."

In that case I would say that it would depend on your definition of biologically matured. If the ability to reproduce is the point that we become biologically mature I would say that we are about even with most animals. If you take the lifespan percentage at the age the we become able to reproduce I would say it is close to most animals.

Let's take a dog for example. Most dogs live an average of let's say 12 years. That's 1/12 of their life span or 8%. Now, humans generally mature at around the age of 12, and our average life span is, what 67ish, so 12/67 is 18%. Cats, whales, horses, monkeys, etc. all have much quicker rates of maturity than us, the pennacle of evolution on Earth.

That's because evolution only occurs when a species existence is challenged. With all of our creature comforts I don't see us evolving any time soon. Now let something happen that eliminates electricity and running water and you will see how well the strong, fast, and smart survive.

Come on think, don't be scared. We all survived! You can see us! Don't let a book make you ignore something you can see! the earth was populated by the nephiliums. The "giants" sent down to breed the human race, according to scriptures... So who were the nephiliums? Angels? Aliens?

If we are the end all and be all to evolution on this planet, why are our young the most helpless of basically all baby animals on this planet. This is an easy one. Most but not all other animals are instinct driven with very little intelligence. No other animal teaches or preaches God and Creation. It is in the first few years of a person's life when their intelligence and personality are formed. This so called helpless time period is actually a period of great learning where evolution has made time and availability of the parent to nurture the mental capacity a person will have the rest of their life. A horse may be self sufficient in a little while but it will never be able to read and write and work out relativity.

A horse may be self sufficient in a little while but it will never be able to read and write and work out relativity. This still doesn't resolve the question at hand though. Being able to work out relativity isn't an evolutionary necessity. It doesn't make us "more fit." Also, the "more time" argument is flawed since we are using so much of our lives to mature. If it was a "more time" situation then why wouldn't we mature even slower, and live much longer? Basically all the argument that you gave does is kind of prove that either we are a higher order than animals (Biblical view), or that the evolutionary theory of survival of the fittest means things like creating philosophy, art, etc., as well as becoming the dominant species on earth. Is this intelligence a by-product of evolution, or is it given? It's interesting that we used reading and writing when it comes to horses. That's not really showing that we're more evolved as much as more specialized. You can teach horses to count, dogs to drive (that story is pretty interesting), and many other very intersting talents can be taught to animals (monkeys using iPads, etc.), but does that show evolution in that animal's learning ability or does it just show an ability to learn a skill that any animal can master given time and will? Also, on your last point, no a horse won't be able to read or write, but we'll never be able to survive in the same climates and perform in the same manner that they do. That doesn't make us more evolved, it makes us different, so maybe in that way, evolution can stand up to scrutiny, but it still doesn't meet the requirements of a viable scientific experiment to be proven.
