Never worked there but interviewed once there, 2 real dumb A!! bosses interviewed me, it was a joke some of the questions they asked and ect,(guess they thought the same of me, thank goodness I didn't get a offer)

I know a guy who works there and they are a shady place but a job right now is a job i suppose. they laid him off called him back 8 months later but wouldnt hire him back at his reg pay rate and wouldnt put him back in the dept where his last Job was nor with benifits but he is now a temp with no benifits and lower pay they are always threatning lay offs one week then madatory OT the next the place is miserably hot in there I am surprised OSHA has'nt came in and got them on violations during this past summer several people had to either go home or to the ER from heat exsastion!! but the guy i know puts up with it cause he has a family to feed and somewhere to work is better than nowhere and better then what he was getting in unemployment!! other than that most of the ppl he works with and for are pretty decent ppl. I just know being the company is based out of texas the right hand dont always keep up with what the left hand here is doing. and I guess there are worse places to work in greeneville.

Yes a job is a job but this place is really sad. When they lay people off due to lack off work but turn right around and hire more people within the week its not right. The only reason they did it was so they could bring someone else in at less pay. Trust me you would rather flip burgers somewhere rather than work in this place. It is miserable during the hot monthes and you freeze your but off in certain departments during the winter. My heart goes out to any one that works there.

I worked there for almost four years and got laid off and they never called me back I had never been wrote up and my attendance was way below plant average the job sucked managment sucked worst the only good thing was decent money and I met sum life long freinds but I'd never go back !!!! Stay away trust me

i just wanted to say that i still work there and im completely miserable there. they care nothing about there employees and are the most ungreatful,disrespectful and lowdown bastards ive ever seen. the main s.o.b is the production manager billy jack wilson, that p.o.s couldnt run an ice cream truck! but yet the plant manager is his bitch and does everything billy jack tells him to do. if the could get some new management it would be a good place to work. i could go on on and on about how they do stuff around there but i dont feel like sittin here all day typing. i'd rather just down there and just beat the shit out of all of them ! now that would be some relief and worth goin to jail over.

My husband works there and he is miserable if he didnt have 3 kids to feed, cloth, and give shelter too He'd prolly go to jail with you lol. Let us know when you go ofF the deep-end and we will make sure to gather up some money to bail ya out LMAO....Nah i am just teasing they down there aint even worth it or the cost of the fine's they already work ya'll to death on little pay, Don't need to spend more on their dumb azzez! I seriously agree with they have the worst managment ever. I love how right now they have you all not knowing your scheduals. it's kinda day to day rather you wil be off on the weekends or not. Oh and arn't they just peaches that you all supposidly are not gonna get gain sharing this year!!!!!! Thats just sweet of them!! NOT buncha D-bags

I work in an Oldcastle plant a little further up north. This place is a JOKE! I've never worked for a more ungrateful, dirty company. Hot as hell in the summer, cold as ice in the winter. Unqualified people in management and skilled positions. Racism and favoritism run rampant. Quality of product is rushed. Rules that apply to one person, don't apply to the next. Layoffs of employes with 10+ years experience while employees with less than one year are retained. Employees brought back with lower wages and no benefits. Mandatory overtime with little to no notice. No lunch and three short breaks per ten hour shift. No type of moral boosters or appreciation towards employees. Tons of safety violations and cover ups.

In short, take any other job you can get unless you can't find anything else. If you have to take a job at Oldcastle, get out as fast as you can. This job is not worth your peace of mind, body and soul.

This place has horrible working conditions. They make you wear more PPE gear than a fully suited firefighter would wear. That is because it is a very dangerous place to work, and they know it. They have stupid childish programs for employees not to report On The Job injuries. For example, if nobody gets hurt all year and there are no Workers Comp cases, they will buy you lunch and give you a $50 bonus. This encourage employee peer pressure not to report any injuries. Hello, a workers comp claim is worth into the tens of thousands per case. They hold you hostage and make you work over 60 hours a week, after all they are paying you $10 an hour. Ovetime cost them $15 and hour. To them that is better than paying another employee and having to provide and pay for another benefits package. Their warehouse employees are mostly felons and non high school graduates.

I worked there years ago. Never got in trouble, never missed. I was a temp, I hurt my back on the job my supervisor "wrote it up" he said well since you're in pain you should go home and rest. Well the next day accuforce told me my job assignment had ended! Yeah fuck you vistawall/oldcastle!!!!! These people will have to deal with karma eventually! I just wished I could watch.

Looking at the Old Castle website I don't know how anyone can read these comments and take these post seriously. It sounds like Old Castle has many different regional and local operations with different management which would also mean there could be different working conditions and working experiences. Maybe working for a location in Hawaii is better than working for another in Main. Does anyone have feedback on if working for one operation is better or worse from another? Looks like these post only drill into their Glass group. How about Allied or Materials companies?

well I work there and i've been there for a while now. While i've had many up's and down's, it does pay the bills. I agree the mang. was awful. They were arrougant jerks with no people or business skills what so ever. However 2 of the main problems have been taking care of. Billy Jack and Darby r no longer with them. 1 got fired and 1 quit so we're all hoping for a turn around and hope it happens soon. there are a few more that need knocked back down to size. that will prob never happen but we can all hope.
