GVDC lawsuit

I have a child who works at GVDC and a few other members of my family who work there. I heard them talking recently about how GVDC conducts drug testing. Does anyone know how GVDC does drug testing, I'm curious. They said there was a lawyer for an organization called TSEA who was thinking about filing a lawsuit against GVDC over drug testing. Is this true? Is this organization a union or radical organization my kinfolks should stay away from. I heard one of them saying something about joining this group. Would that be wise? Anybody with any info about this please respond. I'm worried sick about their jobs in this economy and I wouldn't want them to do anything to jeopardize their jobs.

The TSEA is who helped to fight and save jobs out there. I would encourage any employee to become a member so they can be protected. What your hearing is rumors.

I am far from a A-Hole!, I Do Not sit on my ass getting paid tax dollars! If that were true I would be paying myself. I work hard taking care of individuals most of you would rather didn't know existed or you just stare at when you see them! Yes we get drug tested yearly. It is narrow minded, uneducated people like you, that are probably sitting back drawing food stamps & wel-fare. What are you a disgruntled ex-employee? I have been in direct care for 28years. I take pride in caring for others relatives. Just so you know we haven't gotten a raise in several years, yet the cost of living goes up along with our insurance. The state of Tennessee is one of the lostest paying states,when it comes to developmental centers we work here because we love the service we provide each and every day. Most of us have to have a second job, but I wouldn't expect you to undertand. You have a Blessed Day, Let's hope you never end up in a care facility.

You tell them Career Employee!!! I worked there for 5 years over 10 years ago.
It only takes an accident people for you to end up in a developmental facility or even a nursing home. Your life can change at any given moment!!!!!!!! You can be dining out somewhere and all of a sudden your choking!!! Your at the mercy of others, PRAYING someone knows the heimlich maneuver!! MEDICAL FACT, when your brain is deprived of oxyegen for 4-6 min you will have irreversible brain damage or even die!!!!

I have never smoked in my life! Oh and I don't drink or do drugs, just in case you want to know. I am blessed to be able to assist people with disabilities, I thank God everyday that I have healthy children. I don't know what your problem is, nor do I care. Greenevalley is like any other business, there are good and bad. There are people that go out of their way to do an excellant job, but you don't hear people saying anything about them! Like everywhere I am sure there are those that could contribute a little more to their job than they do, but generally those are the ones that get weeded out (hopefully). No place is perfect, especially in this inperfect world. So instead of trying to belittle people, or accuse them of not doing their job, Look inside and ask yourself, is this really all I can contribute to this community? Do you not have anything better to do with your time? I don't only take care of these individuals, but some of them are like family, unfortunately we are sometimes the only family these individuals have, we take them to our own family gatherings, we don't only provide a service, we Provide Love! I used to work there 5 yrs ago and they didn't drug test me I only lasted a yr and ended up quitting and going to nursing school. As for them sitting on there butts drawing a check that's not true they work hard and not many people can do it I was one of them. Most of the people that work there is one of a kind and special people to have in this world. All respect to all GVDC Emplyees!

All you people down there giving it all you got. Yes I respect the hell out of you people for what you do. But what is it with that place? What are you saying? that people with disabilities cause cancer? No matter where you live or work, people are diagnosed with cancer everyday! My mother has cancer she worked there for 30 years, but GVDC didn't cause the cancer.

I do not like it, and dont even work there, but Im afraid that I am inclined to agree with this poster, the first thing I thought of when I saw this in the paper was the future closing. This captain is not going down with the ship. Hes outtathere!

GVDC is changing that is a fact. All employee's know this. The State is in the stages of preparing the future business. So don't go getting your party on just yet. In every job, business is always looking to update and improve, doesn't mean "closing"
