Ok. Is it wrong to eat and drink just because you work in an agency? Please enlighten me as to how that is misconduct?

Idk who this staff works for but when I worked in this field, staff could only eat when the clients ate. & then only what the clients ate. There was no fixing a meal for clients & then staff eating something different or from outside the home. Now drinks were different. Staff could have a drink but it had to be away from the clients view. So, yes, if I walked in a home & the staff was eating & it not at meal time, it was a counseling session. These clients are people too. They shouldn't have to watch a staff eat when/what they can't eat.

I suppose each place is different but I've worked in a home where staff had to keep a cooler out back for food and drinks because the individual was such high behavior. Also, say you have an individual that refuses to eat meals? Or someone who will only eat on their time? I get they have rights but so do we!

Try working for a company that supplies you're"lunch"everyda y but everyday that lunch is a darn sandwich.clients and staff get so sick of sandwiches and kool aid.it's not healthy and its gross.Gcs actually prepared pretty good meals for their clients.who wants to try to eat when the client next to you drools and spits during a whole meal...nasty.I bet you those people on the administrative side of the door would never rest what we do or sit with a client when trying to eat.No break, never a minute away from the client. There is a supervisor who is constantly carrying a Dr Pepper every everywhere she goes but we cant have anything but our"allotment".Doubl e standards though. As long as you are kissing her ass she won't tell on you for anything, but you cross her and you can never do anything right, isn't that right Comcare supervisor?

Not sure what Comcare supervisor you are referring too, but when I was there I ate a meal with just about every client there. In their homes, at the workshop, at company picnics and in public restaurants. I'm sure a sandwich every day is boring. I recall sending soup, crackers & sandwiches with my clients to workshop. It would be hard to fix an actual meal while at the workshop don't you think? The meals were planned 6 months in advance for EVERY meal a client eats, by a nutritionist that the state of TN sent to Comcare. I can't say what other companies do for their food, but I have heard that at GCS, staff would fix the clients food from the kitchen and then bring themselves in fast food or even grill steaks and eat in front of the client. That is a sorry pos excuse for a staff if you ask me.

I too have worked at Comcare and it's true that supervisors can walk around with their McDonald's cups or Dr. Pepper cans/bottles, but the "regular" folk have to eat what the clients have to eat. We never got anything extra. the people on the "other side of the door" as you call it can be seen going in and out with food, have dinners all the time, but the people who actually work with the clients like us have to eat slop. Yes if the gcs staff was doing that as you said it is wrong. I dont know about anywhere else but CC myself but I know that a sandwich every day is awful. Yes the dietician makes the evening meal menu but during the day it's just sandwiches and damn pudding most of the time.

I think you read that wrong. Who WANTS to eat with the clients? Who WANTS to eat a sandwich day after day after day? Re-read the first post about it.

Well obviously when you apply for a job with clients, you are going to interact with them. You ate required to eat with them, possibly bathe them, change their briefs if needed and take them out in public. If you aren't man or woman enough to do that without adding childish about it, go flip burgers.

Sounds like a shitty job. Read this thread carefully kids and get a good education or you'll wind up having to take jobs like this someday.

Comcare client lunches at the workshop are sent in from the home. Staff eats a prepared lunch that another staff made for them. The workshop does keep some food on hand just in case extra lunches are needed (like when an extra staff is there or if a home forgets to send in a staff lunch). Are these staff lunches something I'd make for myself EVERDAY? Probably not. The lunchroom is peaceful most of the time. Staff has to watch clients "stealing" food from other clients, it happens. Lunches can be stressful with so many in one area at the same time. Supervisors usually eat at their desks, and they do send out for food from time to time.
To sum up, there's a reason why agencies are constantly advertising for help. Turnover is very high. The stress is high, the pay is low.

Well a-hole, I was one of those people who drools and chokes when eating. The woman who sat beside me wiped my chin, patted my back when I choked, and continually told me that it was not my fault. Yes, I have come a long way since then, but will never forget the kindness of the people who took care of me, cleaned me when I used the bathroom in my pants, and made sure I was clean and fed. I have gone back to see them, taking flowers, and cards with money in them, and small gifts. I do not care what your problem is, but you need to remember that it could be you sitting there drooling someday. Think it will never happen. So did I.

I guess I was just very stupid and didn't think that there really were people who took a job just for the $$. But, I tell you, after working in the medical field for 20+ yrs, it is true! How people can be so mean to other humans is crazy. It's sad actually. I worked @ Comcare for almost 4 yrs. From staff to supervisor, I LOVED my job and my clients. Even on their worse days. I've been hugged, bit, slapped, spit on, shit on, puked on, hair pulled, scratched and anything else you can imagine. & I LOVED my clients. I know I made a difference in their lives no matter if anyone else thinks I did or not. sorry for the rant Magician, it just gets me fired up! For those who think they could never be in the clients position....I hope you never are, but IF that time comes, I wouldn't wish YOUR style of care even on YOU.

Jesus man..really? Are you really that cruel? Just because someone drools or shits on themselves does not mean they lived at GVDC. Ever heard of a rehab hospital? Or even just home health for a pt who has had a terrible accident or disease? The mean person in me says 'I hope you rot in hell for your attitude'.

I will answer you one time. I am recovered enough to live on my own. I am not sure what needed to be explained. Perhaps you need to look in a mirror and do some soul searching. Otherwise, karma may someday bite.
