As a long time property owner in Greeneville, a native, a taxpayer, and a concerned citizen, I have watched the new administrtion in the Town of Greeneville. Mayor King has brought more openness and accountability to the city government than at any time in recent history "where is her support?" This Mayor is taking on the "good-ole-boys" and the "over the hill, has-been" ball players, of which there are many. She expects them to play by the rules, but she is getting no backing from the people. Keith Paxton is the only board member who seems to understand exactly the trouble this town is in. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS PICTURE? With the economy tanking, industries leaving in numbers, and extraordinarily high unemployment everywhere, who is going to speak up for the "Jewel City of the Mountains?" If the previous mayor- a business partner with Alderman Daniels and new Alderman David Hawk, had been elected in June 2008, the town would now be in $80,000.000 or more in bonded debt. Mayor King has saved this town from economic disaster. So far our tax dollars are being safeguarded by this Mayor who comes from a stong accounting background. Please give her the support and cooperation she needs to continue progressing.

I believe that Mayor King deserves our support as well. It's time for the "Greeneville Mafia" to be out of business. THE GREENVEILLE MAFIA: W.T. Daniels has ran this town for too long. He has it in his pocket. David Hawk could have made a difference, but he only saw the money he could make from political connections. Bill Carroll is a waste of oxygen. Why do you think he had to leave his last job. They were going bankrupt. They are all money hungry, white collar, old school criminals and will take every dime they can for their own material gain. Get them out of here!!!!!

GET REAL <quoted text> The letter is simply a reflection on Greeneville. Don't try to belittle me, I know what I'm doing here. People need to realize that we do have a Mayor who is willing to fight for this town. Why do you hate Jim Warner so much? Why do you think that our Mayor King is not capable of taking care of her own her business? Because she is a woman? She has to fight against the corruption that was already started by the former mayor, and yes W.T. DANIELS.... He is an old fool who is raping the system year after year. How long will we put up with it? It's people like you who give him power. GO AWAY... You must be an old fool too. I will bet that Mr. Daniels has done it for so long, that he has stolen, and embezzeled so much money, he is probably into drug selling too, you are so stupid that you don't even see it. YES I SAID IT!!! Do something about it! Maybe we can get the proper authorities in here to investigate. I urge everyone to call Mayor King. Lets have him investigated. Call the comptrollers office. These men have to go. You need to go with them. Supporters like you send a town into bankruptcy. Are you in on it? She does her best, and doesn't take advantage of her political status.

The "man behind the curtain" has ALWAYS been W.T. Daniels. Who do you think you're kidding? He is getting ready to go home and retire. He may not like it, but he is a "has been ,too long, shouldn't have been". In case you don't know this, the "old school Mafia" is out. They have had their time.... It had to happen sometime. You're too old, just like them.... Good bye! Don't let the door hit you in the Ass!!!

Mayor King has always lived in Greeneville and has fought for the town for as long as I have known her. She barely gets paid for this job and Daniels and others went after her as soon as she became Mayor. What is the connection between Ron woods and Daniels?

He is the city attorney, but did not represent Bill Carroll in the investigation about illegal activity. Billy Boy hired his own lawyer... Wonder why?

I hope that the Mayor knows that she does have some support in this town. She came along with a lot of high hopes. She has done a good job. It's true, she puts up with all this and makes very little money. I believe she just wanted to make a difference. I don't know who this Purvis fellow is, but he sure did a good job on the letter. He should be applauded. Jim Warner is the best man to have in her corner too. We never hear anything negative about his conduct. Except for what all these haters spew on here. They want to see W.T. Daniels kind of politics. The kind that only benefits his bank account, not the town. Thats old school!!! We need an honest board of Mayor and Alderman.

Mayor King is an honest, dedicated, hard working leader. She needs no magic or curtain to hide behind. It is evident that Mayor King is sucessfully producing an organization which is perfomance based and efficient in it's operations. She expects town employees to be productive, cut waste and reduce expense. Godspeed Mayor King. May her energy and focus stay ever high. Please take note that what she is doing is making a difference. Just look around. Our "jewel of the mountains" has never looked better. Godspeed Mayor King!

I just read the article in the Greeneville Sun ( www.greenevillesun.com/story/306540 ) that describes the memo that Mayor King distributed to Greeneville's Aldermen. For those who doubted the justification of her actions to consolidate Parks & Rec with Public Works, the facts speak for themselves. Mayor King has my both my trust and support that she is moving the town in a positive direction. Isn't it refreshing to see a public servant who put the facts out for review instead of throwing up smoke screens to hide them.

Correct me if I am wrong but the last time the GL&PS had major leadership issues we learned the Greeneville Mayor had little or no control over the power board's actions. Regrettably, I just learned that the Mayor King is not a member of power board of directors. Alderman Daniels is the chairman that you must address your statement of concern to. You should consider asking him if the change in the power line location was presented to the planning commission? Oh I forgot he is also Chairman of that Board. Good friend and neighbor you should take your "bull" to the next power board meeting it could get a litle interesting.(See related Corruption At Light and Power Posts) VINCIT OMNIA VERITAS!

I've been reading these posts, and I believe that the mayor has very little to do with the GL&PS board. Still she is the one who is designated to appoint them. How often are they appointed? Can they be dismissed and replaced or do they have to die? Paul Hite's seat is still available, why doesn't she send Keith Paxton to that seat? She really could do a lot of good for Greeneville by changing these board members.....

It makes no sense to me, but maybe I'm missing something. In some ways I believe it could have been to hide it from this town.... What do you think?

Thanks to Keith Paxton for his letter of response to Mayor King's memo.( www.greenevillesun.com/story/306662 ). He stated: "Based on the budget numbers from the past few years and the 15-month savings plan by combining the Recreation workers with the Street Department, it has been proven to be in the best interest of the City of Greeneville to keep these city departments combined through this year's budget plan." "With the combined effort, they mowed more locations, more frequently this year and last year with fewer men and less gas than had been used in the past. They maintained more facilities better than ever." I have also heard that many of the Parks & Rec employees who were moved are happier in this new situation.
