I know that I'm going to be in the minority on this, but whatever. I agree with the original poster here. People who work in retail serve customers. Customers who pay their paychecks. They should be happy and willing to work whatever hours are necessary in order to ensure their customers are happy.

Some people prefer to shop last minute. Some don't have a choice. What if you work late yourself on Christmas Eve? Or what if it's just your CHOICE to shop on Christmas Eve. You don't have to justify that to anyone.

In this economy, people who work in retail should be thankful they have jobs, not bitching about having to work long hours and on holidays. It's all part of the game.

oh whatever. how the hell would you feel if you had to mess out on Christmas with your family. Don't matter who pays who's paychecks. Without those reatail workers you wouldnt be ably to go in and shop. be respecftul. If you work late on Christmas Eve your self then you should shop before Christmas Eve. There are 23 other days in this month. and 11 more months in this year why wait til the last min. I hope you have to go without seeing your family so you can see what its like.

I'm guessing you have never worked for the public? I have and did for a long time, try working it and see how long you do it just to make a customer happy instead of it just being a job, because I could care less about my customers

Why does every store in town close early on christmas eve? It's the damn day before christmas! It makes it hard for people who haven't finished their shopping. You'd think in such a bad economy stores would stay open as much as possible when people are willing to buy. Ugh!
You know what? Christmas comes the same day every year, December the 25th! Maybe you need to start a little earlier next year. The people that own/manage/work at the stores you are speaking of, well they have families too and I am sure they would like to spend time with them.

I am sure you would feel differently if working on christmas eve affected you or someone you care about, but by your post apparently it does not.

Get an early start. It's not the stores fault you are a procrastinator.

I agree. Those idiots that work retail should have to stay away from their families until the last possible minute until we get off our a$$es and decide to go buy something. I mean, what the hell have they been doing the last month that they can't stay all night? Who cares if their family has Christmas?
Well, I see your posting name fits you perfectly! You are smarter than you look.

Ok so maybe your boss, you know the one who cuts your paycheck, if you even have a job should require you to cover the same hours on christmas and eve, that you seem to think retail people should. I am sure there are some people in your family that are working retail. You are speaking about them too..like it doesn't matter if they make it to the family dinner/gift giving, they need to serve the customers instead. Wonder what they would think about you saying this? Hmm..

Most of the posts are sarcastic, just FYI. People are trying to make the person who started the post look like the d-bag that they are.
