Most of those so-called homeless people are con-artists. I dealt with them for years and the majority of them are scammers. Don't EVER give them money.

Most of them people always puffing on a cigarette and got alcohol on their breathe. Just mooching is all they are doing.

Never actually seen one here in Bumpkinville but I may be tempted to help one out here in some way. In the city, I'd ignore them because most are professional panhandlers who, every morning, park their car in a parking garage, change into their rags, panhandle all day then leave in the evening with a big ole wad of cash from you "marks". You usually don't see them on weekends so I guess they opt for a five day work week like most folks.(-:

Doctor Fill wrote: Most of them people always puffing on a cigarette and got alcohol on their breathe. Just mooching is all they are doing. Ain't that the truth! There was a man who use to stand at the bypass at the commons usually the 15th of the month, and the 1st of the month.....ironically, GVDC paydays. I felt sorry for him at first, until I seen him getting into the driver side of a new Altima. My poor little car was barely running. I didn't feel bad for him after that. My cousin stopped and asked this same man on a different day if he would be interested in working in tobacco, and putting up hay. The man flipped my cousin off, and then he walked back toward Kmart....I assume back to his new car.:/ Some people!

I believe that this new era of panhanders are just playing people. Only a fool would give them money.

Step on it and cover him up in smoke. It seems rude but the heavy choking smoke will rid him of all parasites.

When I see these "homeless" I wonder why the State of Tennessee can't house them in one of their $800,000 homes they built for the mentally challenged... there must be some spare space somewhere in a $800,000 that they could sit out of the cold...(if it ever gets' cold here in G'ville)

The guy with the prosthetic leg...his sign said hungry and homeless so i went in the store and got him stuff to make sandwiches and chips and drinks...he got mad and threw it at me! saw him later sittin on the corner drinkin whiskey!! jerk! u never know because i also came upon a woman holding a sign that said her kids were hungry so i ran to mcdonalds and bought a bunch if burgers and fries and sweet tea. it made me want to cry when she ran straight to a car parked behind her and gave that food to 4 little kids and they were eatin like they hadnt in a while. its not the fact that sometimes they are scammers its the fact that there are still people out here that care enuf to help the less fortunate cuz believe me ive been one of the less fortunate before! what goes around comes around and that very nite i got the phone call for a job i really wanted.

You want to help people, but anymore it's hard to figure out who's legit and who's not. And if you want to see something really sad, go to the end of the Johnson City Medical Center parking lot between there and the old Food Lion building. I worked in the ER there and had to walk over to the old grocery store for training (hospital now owns it). There's a wooded area with picnic tables there. Our veterans are sleeping under picnic tables there with only a tarp across the top. I heard people complain all day long and watch them beat the government with TennCare. But the veterans never complained yet they paid their damn dues when they fought for our country yet they are thrown out on the streets! I seen it with my own eyes

I TYPED DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT BECAME OF THE BAG LADY?! Doesn't anyone know? I talked to her many times as a teenager. She never asked for money. She drew a picture of me once. She was quite an artist.
Aside from my question, I give when asked and sometimes without being asked. I do not wait around to see how the person uses it. It's irrelevant.
