Mayor Broyles needs to read and understand about PUBLIC meetings, Hearing and Get Togethers... he's run this County as his "own" too long and now when people are speaking up and out, he's running scared. Having cops at a Industrial Board Meeting... are the involved people/citizens of Greene, Cocke and Jefferson counties criminals that require policing ?

Two were arrested. One for asking the IDB to speak up so the audience could hear them, another for saying "Ferguson said we could ask questions." Both incidents are on video at the Save the Nolichucky Facebook page. Broyles isn't scared, he's about to leave office; he dislikes applause (a spontaneous outburst he must prohibit) and won't allow the audience to ask questions. There was no "shouting match" as reported by the alarmist media. Control freaks and propagandists, the classic government combo for managing perception of the populus. Video available on the web is cracking the local wall, just a little.

Alan Broyles is a cow lick fool. Our county has sucked under his leadership. We have had Alan broyles or Roger Jones leading our county.for the past 25 years. Why? Is our voters that old and stupid around here? They I see who they elect as sheriff every election and see how some people drive on the bypass and then I realized I live in dumb assville. God I hope we clean house this year . Wake up Greene county and get rid of this good ol boy crap. Its time for a new sheriff.

If it was portrayed as a public meeting, then then why was it conducted in whispers? Has Greenville ever heard of ADA guidelines that should be recognized that these old buildings do not project sound that is at or below conversational decibel! It is get another plight on Greene County! I recognize the plight of a Company promised something but I see this whole thing as a classic example of NOT putting the FACTS out there to the Greene County citizens to start with!

Not to STEP on any Republican toes but HOW is THIS any DIFFERENT from what OBAMA is accused of?

Unfortunately, politicians of both parties are influenced by big business and big money. They do not work for us on any level, local, state, or national.

It is hard to miss the irony in your grammatical skills, and the fact that you "live in dumb assville."

If it weren't for the old and stupid folks, he would still be delivering auto parts. Thanks to them the county is now basically broke. The young working folks will have to pay for the poor decisions of their elders for years.

CORRRECTION Two men were removed from the building by police; one, Mr Overholt, who requested that the board speak louder, was arrested. The other man was removed but not arrested. Overholt's bail was $2000. Compare to David Hawk's $500, or to Haslam's Pilot Flying J recent $92 million fine.

The Industrial Development Board speaks quite loudly. They proclaim from the rooftops that they run the corporate money game in Greene County, and cannot be questioned.

Which IDB members abstained from voting? Anybody know the names? Or were they (the board) speaking so quietly that the vote count was difficult or impossible to determine?

from Mr Overholt, via Save the Nolichucky's Facebook page:

"AN OPEN LETTER TO THE PEOPLE OF GREENE CO..About the incident at the IDB on Fri. the 18th., most of what happened inside the bldg.is well recorded. I did ask them to speak louder so we could hear, trying to prevent any more outbursts as the Mayor asked, I did not consider that question an outburst!! I was taken completely by surprise when the Mayor directly ordered the police to remove me. I t...hought everyone that attended should be able to hear at a public meeting, are we only to look? I had driven 30 miles, as I am sure other people had, this was only my 2nd public meeting, my 1st being at West Green, at which lots of people spoke, in addition Roger Coen had stated that he had spoken to Tom Ferguson, and advised all would be allowed 3 minutes, that advise also ended with him being removed. Lastly there were no instructions from the Mayor to the contrary. SINCE THERE ARE NO VIDEOS after the arrest and handcuffing," my first," goes as follows. on the way down the steps the officer called for a transport, but very shortly cancelled the transport, saying he was `walking me down`, as we started the walk I asked him his name, having had a small restaurant on Depot St., across from the jail a few years ago, I thought I might have known him. This question seemed to agitate him. He told me his name was Dixon or Hixon, and very abruptly increased the pressure and lift on my right arm, pulling my shoulder up into a very painful position, causing me to walk very awkwardly. After a few steps I told him I had a very bad back and hips and would have to sit or lean against something, at which time he lifted my right arm higher and stated that I had no trouble walking forward in the meeting room. His next words were, you are charged with resisting arrest, got on his radio and called for backup. Another officer pulled up but did not get out of his car, the officer then was practically dragging me across the street, where another officer came out of the sheriffs office took me under my left arm and practically carried me into the booking room to a chair. The city policeman then disappeared. The booking officer, after a couple of questions, such as my name etc. asked if I needed a band-aid, I told him no, at that time he told me I had to have one that I was " bleeding on his floor". My right arm was numb I did not know my elbow was bleeding. Another officer to my rear made the comment "maybe he needs some concrete time", as the booking questions continued, an officer entered and introduced himself as Lt., and I have forgotten his name, escorted me to a nurse who applied a band-aid. He was very professional, apologized, asked if I needed any thing, and left. The atmosphere in the room became totally different, the booking process continued in a much more civil manner, I was told my wife had made bail, which I would not have done, was summonsed to court July 21st. This was a painful and humiliating experience to go through with a police Dept. and County Officials at the ripe old age of 76.LORD HELP THE GOOD CITIZENS OF GREENE CO."

Very startling that this has occurred in a small town, but what bothers me almost as much is the non-reactive fellow audience members. WTH sheeple...

This was just policy after addressing no more interruptions..
Interruptions Procedure.

In the event that any meeting is interrupted by a group or groups of persons so as to render the orderly conduct of such meeting unfeasible and order cannot be restored by the removal of individuals who are interrupting the meeting, the members of the governing body conducting the meeting may order the meeting room cleared and continue in session or may adjourn the meeting and reconvene at another location selected by majority vote of the members. In such a session, final disposition may be taken only on matters appearing on the agenda. Representatives of the press or other news media, except those participating in the disturbance, shall be allowed to attend any session held pursuant to this section. Nothing in this section shall prohibit the governing body from establishing a procedure for readmitting an individual or individuals not responsible for disturbing the orderly conduct of the meeting

At a meeting such as this would the audience have been given an opportunity to address their questions and concerns ? Was the elderly gentleman out of line IYO in asking for the panel to speak up so the public could hear what was being said?Difficult to establish a forum with which to speak upon if you cannot hear the actual agenda being discussed.

You can be arrested for asking them to speak up because you cannot hear them?

I cannot believe people just sit there and let that poor man be carted off to jail!

All public meetings should have mics so everyone can hear. This oversight is just ignorance on behalf of those conducting the meeting. It seems this was a meeting open to the public, but that does not mean questions will be taken. No one wants a meeting to get out of hand...shouting contests, heckling, etc. Was there an opening statement announced that there should be no applause, no questions being taken, etc?
