I`m in VA. What I did was spend 8 years getting an education then worked my ass off. My house tripled in value after 9/11 because I was close enough to commute but far enough to be safe. I sold my house and moved to SWVA. Not because being up north was bad, but because by moving here I don't have to work. I spend all summer on the boat at the lake and spend all winter training horses. If I stayed up north I couldn't afford to do this.

And I know a lot of people who moved here from somewhere else and are stuck, under or not employed at all... and even more who are already gone. In fact, I have met more people that find locals unfriendly than the other way around. Most of them just tuck their tails and go home. Me thinks the problem is the local cuisine who are more concerned about where you are from and the state of your eternal soul than making friends. They are friendly alright, as long as you are paying for something, but don't try fencing your property ( because they have always hunted it) or trying to take a job from their relative who was just sprung from the slammer for meth yesterday. Then they are not so friendly. Me thinks the problem is not mine. As I tell others who inquire about Greeneville. It's a great place if you don't need or want anything but simple food staples, don't need or want to work and want your children to play sports, but not excel academically. If you require little to no mental stimulation and can put up with bad drivers, meth heads, poor service... Greeneville is the place for you.
I have decided that you have one of two problems. Number one is that you are like a close relative that I used to have who was extremely negative about every thing and every body. I went out of my way to avoid her, as did her children who left town. Negative people who are always complaining are complete poison to me. I stay as far away as possible, because I don't want to hear whining. She is dead now unless she has come back to life through you.

One person and only one person is responsible for your life and your happiness, and that is you. It is not the people of Greene County. Although I am one of them, I am responsible for my happiness, and nobody else's. I have no one to blame but myself, if I don't like my job, or where I live. Every day is my day, and I'll be damned if I let anyone ruin it for me.

The other possible problem that you could have is that you bought in a cheap area , next to a pack of trash, who don't respect your property.

I am neither a bad driver, a meth head, and my business offers excellent service at a very reasonable cost. That is why it has been successful for over 35 years. Don't paint us all with one broad brush if you made the mistake of buying in a crappy cheap area in the middle of nowhere. Certain areas of the county are replete with low life scum. You should have done your due diligence before you bought. If you got taken advantage of on price, it is because you didn't do your due diligence. If you paid a fair price, you could afford to sell. Decent property will sell , if priced at the market. If you paid too much, guess who is to blame.

I moved here with my family when I was five. I've worked in JC, Morristown, Kingsport... I still prefer Greeneville as home... Nah, not much goin' on here but I kinda like that.
I've known people from all over that I like and people from all over that I don't care much for.

Hmmmm it's kinda when a southerner moves up north to get a better job or go to college. People move for their own personal reasons. Me, I had no choice. But I've made the best of it and adapted.

Yep, my grandfather was born here and moved up north for work but Greeneville was always his home and we all fell in love with it and followed him home.

What's the difference between a Northern bean and a Yankee bean? A Pinto bean is as southern as corn pone. Then you've got your Boston beans and black beans (Mexican?). And is a lentil a bean or a pea? And then there's lima beans (from Peru?). And are green beans, snap beans and pole beans all the same?

I moved here from middle Tn and still get asked the question " you're not from around here are you"? Gets on my nerves! I agree that you get back what you put into a place, but still after 23 years and children born and raised here to have folks say that to me is irritating!

We have come here to help with your grammer and history lessons. We won the war. Get over your nasty self. We are here to improve your bloodline. It's a shame we can't help you from dating the farm animals. Grow up Gomer or step aside. I'm going to dance with your sister.

oh you trailer park living trash bags just love to hate. You ever notice we yankees tend to live in houses? They aint got wheels under em either. A jelious bunch you rednecks are you. always complaining about other people yet you run to your crazy churches on sunday looking for some sign that your a good god fearing person. Then you go home and beat your kids or wife or dog. You complain about taxes yet you dont really pay any. Us Yankees are the ones paying the taxes that let your dirty little bastard kids get thier free lunch, get all the free programs your on. And just so you know tencare is not insurance, its my yankee tax money paying for your sick ass cause you cant hold a job that gives insurance. So the next time one of you back woods, red necking country bumpkins see a fine yankee walking about town it might be best to just walk up and say thank you, for without me you would be living in a card board box under a bridge somewhere.

Easy Myst! He didn't say that he was here to help us spell. He offered to help with our grammar, such as, but not limited to, the use of double negatives like I don't know nothin', or I ain't got no clue.

Every night when I go to bed, I say a prayer of thanks for every one of you obnoxious bastards. Feel free to keep some of your much needed appreciated tax dollars to enroll yourself in spelling class. I would gladly live in a cardboard box, if it meant just one Yankee wasn't left behind in the classroom.
