City schools should have had a 2 hour delay

Why would the city school system put our children in danger ? I was skidding everywhere trying to get my children to school this morning I even saw several others having issues. I have seen them call school off for a lot less then this! At lest have a 1-2 hour delay! According to the school message we got ( it's supposed to be sunny later) I don't know where they are getting their information because the national weather service says the opposite!
Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 12AM EST THU
WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT EST TONIGHT
SNOW SHOWERS CAN BE EXPECTED WITH MODERATE SNOW POSSIBLE AT TIMES ESPECIALLY OVER THE HIGHER ELEVATIONS. TOTAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 1 TO 4 INCHES ARE EXPECTED
WITH A FEW LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS.
SNOW SHOWERS WILL CONTINUE THROUGHOUT THE DAY
BEFORE TAPERING OFF THIS EVENING.
SNOW MAY CREATE HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS THROUGH THIS EVENING. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS
A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING
DRIVING AND WALKING MAY BE DIFFICULT ON UNTREATED ROADWAYS AND SIDEWALKS. BE PREPARED FOR SNOW COVERED ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES. IF YOU MUST TRAVEL
SLOW DOWN AND ALLOW EXTRA TIME TO REACH YOUR DESTINATION.
Now I don't see anything about the snow stoping and the sun comming out. Now what the city needs to do next is salt the roads instead of being to cheap to do so and get our kids home safe before they have an angry mob of parents.

Yes I saw this also, on most roads there is no visibility and on my way to work I also slid some. You would think that the school system would care more for the children. Your right about Greeneville treating the roads! Most times they wait till its too late and then they only do certain ones . Then again this town is cheap cheap cheap and I should know because I work for them!

I agree. We have had very few snow days this year and it would have been much safer to have a delay and see if the snow would allow safe driving conditions. Clearly they would have had to cancel before the two hours was up. My oldest child rides an early bus to GHS and told me several of the students had wrecked trying to get to school. Now the students are all stuck there and I'm sure they are afraid to call school out early because they will all be leaving in worse conditions than when they tried to get there. Even WSCC across the street closed.

I agree as well! They have put our children in danger and this should not go unheard! They made a bad mistake today and they need to pay for it! My child was one of the ones that slid off the road and you best bet I am raising Cain!

Ohh boo hoo if you were that concerned why didnt you take your kids two hours later than you did? Wouldnt you rather them be tardy and get them there safe..and yes I have 2 kids in school I just left the house a little earlier and took my time getting them there...

The schoolcast that was sent out at 730 this morning said "use your own judgment". So I did... My children have been safe at home all day. I am baffled that thinga were handled the way they were! Ridiculous!!

Exactly, use your judgement, you're the parent. If you don't know how to drive in the snow then home is the safest place for them.
