Well judging from your grammar I will have to agree with you, that there are no rocket scientists in your family.

Ok look im a good friend of Brents. ever since i've known him he has been a very hyper active person. he's not on any type of drugs and doesnt cause problems with anyone. He goes to school, goes to work, and sometimes he has a little free time between work and school that he might get to see his friends but usually he's busy studying. He has worked so hard on getting his student loans reinstated so he could start back to college and work with computers cause its something he loves and is passionate about. when he started back in school he(as well as others) knew his ADD/ADHD(whichever one its called) would cause problems with him concentrating on homework and staying focused in class. He started going to a dr and they put him on a medication for the ADD and i'm pretty sure they had to change his medication to this new one because the first medication wasnt working (like his family said he has adult ADD and a pretty severe case of it, he is constantly changing the subject and its like his brain never stops and he just wants to talk about everything with everyone), well the 2nd one was more powerful and it did end up having side effects that made him paranoid. I don't know if any of you all have ever took a medication and it ended up reacting on you and causing side effects but i have, anyways, You would just really have to meet Brent to see that this "hit and run" and "false identification" is not something he would do, he stays out of trouble, dont bother anyone and unlike most of the people in this town he is NOT a meth head or a pill head, the boy holds down a job and goes to school and has been trying to better his life and get out of this town and be someone. Brent is an amazing guy and hopefully he will be back on track really fast now that he's not on the medication. So for all of you on here that are bashing him and ASSUME he is on illegal drugs you really need to get to get your facts straight cause for once this isn't a story about a junkie, just because half of this town has started doing drugs and getting in trouble doesn't mean that everyone does. Instead of making up lies and accusations try praying for him, he really needs all he prayers he can get right now, and also his family. It truly breaks my heart this has happened to him because i sat and watched him write a letter to the US student loan dept telling them his big plans for the future and asking them to give him a second chance at college and making his dreams come true. I've sat at work and listened to him get excited about being able to have this chance and watching his eyes light up when he talks about school and when he tells everyone about his grades he's made. Its very sad that the medication that he thought would help him focus has ended up doing this to him. All i can really say is that if you want to sit here and bash him that's your choice but you should really take that time to be praying for him and his family. Brent is going to get through this cause he has very supportive and loving family members, co-workers and friends and we are all behind him 100percent.

What was the name of the medicine that did this to him? If this is true, parents need to know what this medicine is to make sure the docs don't put their children on it.

I am a 24 year old on ADD medication! it's called ADULT ADD and it does exist. Nothing to cover up ADHD and ADD sometimes do not go away as you get older and you do have to be on medication in order to stay organized and stay focused. Had I not been on my ADD medication I would have NEVER made it through School. It is a real diagnosis and people who do not know the facts need not comment about it. You are correct ADHD is common in small children however there ARE forms of adult ADD. People who are NOT ADD can abuse the meds to hype them up and get high on. If you are truly ADD you can not abuse the drug because it does the exact opposite and slows the brain down to make it function normally. Furthermore ADD is different from ADHD. ADHD is a hyperactivity disorder (that also causes concentration problems) while ADD is just the Concentration problems and organizational problems. It can also cause high anxiety. ADD is most common in adults but ADHD does occur. I personally was placed on a medication that did not work for me when i was first diagnosed and it made me act nutty to. I had to be adjusted. The problem can happen when the person is not aware that they are acting abnormal due to the medication and think that everything is fine. I know Brent and he truly is ADHD yes you are correct he could have killed someone BUT he does not deserve to be "locked up" until his medication is fixed. He has people that know there is a problem now and they are getting things fixed. ADD / ADHD does NOT mean druggie. I know what it is like to be around a bunch of people who do not know the first thing about the problem. Please educate yourself before you go making half cocked comments saying someone is abusing drugs because they have a health problem. Shame on you!

actually he wasn't autistic, he had aspergers syndrome, which is kind of like a mild autism. people with aspergers usually have a few things they are "obsessed" with. like for instance: scary movies, they may constantly go on and talk about nothing but scary movies because thats all their mind is focused on. or like nascar, they could be constantly going on about nascar and be talking about the size of all the tracks, the average speed, pretty much when something is their main focus they tend to learn as much as they can about it.
BUT now for this guy to go shoot people like he did should NOT be linked to aspergers. I have a cousin with asperbers and when he was younger in his teens he was obsessed with knives and swords and where they were made and which knives were used by past historical figures, just information. now he knew that some of the knives he had were replicas in movies where they were used to kill people and he talked about that, BUT he also knew it was wrong and that it would hurt people and is unexceptional. He was raised to know the difference between right and wrong. This young man, unlike Brent, had this problem his whole life and had been treated for it and his family knew what was wrong with him. he didnt just start a new medication. This man lived with this his whole life he was taught right from wrong by his parents, surely. but what im saying this "disease" does not prevent someone from learning right from wrong, so no his "disease" was not to blame in this case. Aspergers is mainly a social problem. look it up.

How about him just owning up to his crap. There are mentally challenged people everywhere and they don't act like that. The medicine didn't hurt his school work but just his ability to tell the truth.Doesn't matter about A.D.D.he needs his butt in jail.

No miss know it all.. I had a kid who was ADD.. she was on medicine, but her doctor.. a real doctor, not a quack who is quick to pass out drugs said that she, and other kids don't need them after about 12-13.. they learn to control their hyperactivity. So, if you are still on these type of drugs... well... nuff said. If you are a grown up and can't control your thought process or behavior. holy crap is all I can say....
