Only 2 players touched the football all night for Greeneville. They are good athelets but 2 kids can't win football games. Only 2 passes all night. It's ok to have a running game but dang at least make the defense wonder every once in a while if your going to pass. Plus they ended up with like 15 plenalties, mainly on offense. Greeneville will have a winning season but won't be able to hang with the big dogs this year. They have had lots of good talent and still have good players but we will get to see if the coaches know what they are doing this year. If tonight was any indication of what the coaches bring to the table, there may be reason for concern. Just my opinion. Good Luck Greene Devils.

You pretty much told it exactly the way it is. I'd hate to be a receiver on this team, don't think they'll get a chance to catch one all year. The only 2 that touch the ball, probably don't weigh over 140lbs a piece. It is really dangerous running those 2 up the middle all night long. Hope their little bodies can endure all that pounding. Go big Greene!

Any time you go from a spread back to a run based offense there is going to be some rust early on. The passing will come with time but right now the offensive line has to learn how to drive block and open holes. The blocking scheme for this offense is a 180 from a spread scheme. Instead of cut blocks and open field blocking they have to fire off and drive. Once they establish the run game I'm sure they will open the playbook. Plus Morristown West is a totally different caliber of opponent than most schools in their conference.

I agree Morristown West is a little tougher than teams in their conference. I also am sure GHS will have a great record this year, due to the teams in their conference. It's like I told a guy Friday at the game, we have been spoiled the last 5 years. I'm not putting GHS down, but this team is a big step below what they have had the last 5 years. That also is to be expected in high school. Unless, you are Maryville. I am assuming the reason they are not in the spread is because they can't throw that good. They beat Morristown West first game last year, at Morristown, like they were nothing, so I'm not real sure how good Morristown is this year. I just think the running back, although he is quick, could easily get hurt going up the middle every play. Since he is so small. When you have a third down and 15 and try running for first down, every time that happens, you obviously can't throw the ball. It is much easier for a defense to defend a 1 dimensional team. As far as learning to drive block, you kind of would like to have that down before the first game. I understand you keep learning as the season goes on. I will be there every game and hope they prove me wrong. I just don't see them getting to play Fulton this year. Sullivan South and Betsy both have very good teams. Also signal mountain will be a tough game for us. Go big Greene.

Was there fir night was a boring game the crowd was dead from the style of play. . The sad thing is down 7 in the last min and need to throw the ball and the kid that can throw the ball down the field never had a chance . Three runs and game over so the devils better not get behind early or we can all leave at half time .

If we don't kick ourselves with penalties it's game over. That's what beat us. We had 7 false starts and a stupid unsportsmanlike at the 7:00 minute mark of 4th. It was 3rd and 3 and we had the ball on their 13. We out gained West 350+ to 186 and we averaged 5.7 yes per carry. It wasn't not throwing the ball it was penalties we stopped ourselves.

Yeah, what's up with that. I thought you guys lost over 20 seniors. Are they going by the mercy rule also? Geez, that is unheard of. Don't worry GHS won't be playing Fulton this year.

Well Rufus I can't explain it because I thought Fulton would be way down from last year too but they may be just as strong as last year. I'm not sure how many seniors they lost but I know 3 kids signed division 1 scholarships and I'm sure some others went to smaller schools. They have invoked the mercy rule in both of their games and I think every kid on the team has played in both games. I'm not ready to say they will win another state championship this year but they are definitely fun to watch.
I think GHS will have another very good year and will probably go undefeated the rest of the way through the regular season. I saw they were ranked 6th in the latest state rankings.

Wow, that is remarkable. GHS will have to improve from Friday night play to go undefeated. We got Signal Mountain there and a tough Kentucky team(can't think of there name right now) at Kentucky. Lot of games left so who knows what will happen. Hopefully, we will meet this year, but I have less faith in us beating Fulton this year than I did last year. We all know how my faith turned out last year LOL. Good talking to you. Keep me updated on here and we will talk high school football until it ends. Good luck!

We will talk more as the season goes along and I will keep you informed on their scores. I don't see anyone on Fulton's schedule giving them much of a threat unless it might be Farragut or possibly Knoxville Central. They also play Christian Co. Ky high school and I have no idea what kind of team they have. Fulton has a 277 lb. fullback/middle linebacker that runs very well for a big man. It's definitely fun watching people trying to bring him down. LOL
Good luck to you guys the rest of the way.
