'Monkey Man' Arrested On Meth Charges

The Hawkins County Sheriff's arrested 40-year-old William Alan "Monkey Man" Givan of 139 Grassy Valley Road, Whitesburg on Friday.

Upon arrival at Givan's residence, deputies discovered that Givan was in the final step to the meth manufacturing process.

Deputies also found four monkeys in the home, which Givan reportedly keeps as pets.

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency was called in to investigate.

It was determined that the monkeys were not illegal, and they were placed in the custody of Givan's wife.

Givan was arrested and charged with manufacturing meth, possession of Schedule II narcotics, simple possession of marijuana, maintaining a dwelling where narcotics are housed or sold and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He is free today after posting a $25,000 bond.

Greeneville Man Arrested on Several Charges Following Domestic Disturbance

A Greeneville man has been arrested on several charges following a domestic disturbance at his residence.

Police responded to 13715 Lonesome Pine Trail on the report of a domestic disturbance.

28-year-old Joshua Lee Jones had allegedly stolen money and prescription medication.

Jones was charged with two counts of theft under $500, possession of Schedule 4 and 6 drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Bond was set at $4,500 with a court date scheduled for Monday.

Postal Service Employee Pleads Guilty To Mail Theft And Drug Possession Charges

An employee of the United States Postal Service pled guilty last week to mail theft and drug possession charges.

Michelle Ann Necessary was charged in connection with breaking into and stealing prescription drugs from residents along her mail route.

Necessary, a 10-year veteran with the USPS, faced a seven-count indictment in U.S. District Court.

She was charged with five counts of mail theft and two counts of simple possession of a controlled substance.

Necessary pled guilty to one count of each charge.

The remaining charges are to be dismissed when she is sentenced on April 25.

Necessary faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine on the mail theft charge and up to one year in prison and a $100,000 fine on the drug charge.

Necessary did not work out of the Greeneville Office.

A Cedar Creek Road man was arrested this morning after a meth lab was discovered in a building at his residence.

The Greene County Sheriff's Department received a report of a possible meth lab in operation this morning at 1620 Cedar Creek Road.

Upon arrival of deputies, a working meth lab was discovered in an outbuilding behind the residence.

29-year-old Jeremy Michael Shelton was arrested and charged with Possession of Schedule 2 and 4 drugs, Initiation of the Process to Manufacture Meth, and Simple Possession of Meth.

Bond was set at $54,500 with a court hearing scheduled for Wednesday.

Two people were arrested Saturday on drug charges.

Greeneville Police were dispatched to the Lowe's parking lot on a report of people inside a vehicle doing drugs.

33-year-old Elizabeth Cox of Cutshall Avenue and 29-year-old Christopher Lance Reed of Brad Avenue were charged after two syringes and pain medication were found inside the vehicle.

Both were charged with simple possession of schedule 3 drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Bond was set at $2,000 each with a court date scheduled for Wednesday.

Greeneville Woman Arrested on Drug, Theft Charges

A Greeneville woman was arrested this morning on drug and theft charges.
Greeneville Police responded to Walgreens on East Andrew Johnson Highway after receiving a report of an intoxicated female at the store.
19-year-old Kayla Johnson of Old Kentucky Road South was inside the store in an apparent intoxicated state with concealed merchandise on her person.
Upon her arrival at the Greene County Detention Center, pain medication was found on her person.
Johnson was charged with theft under $500, introducing drugs into a jail facility and public intoxication.

Greeneville Man Faces Numerous Charges Following Incident at Basketball Game

A Greeneville man faces numerous charges following an incident with a referee at a basketball game Thursday at the Eastview Recreation Center.

35-year-old Dustin Moore of Forest Hills Drive was charged with two counts of assault, disorderly conduct, aggravated criminal trespassing and resisting stop, frisk, halt, arrest or search.

He was also charged with aggravated criminal trespassing after refusing to leave when asked.

Moore was additionally charged with possession of schedule 3 and 6 drugs, felony possession of schedule 4 drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia following a consented search of his residence Friday.

Bond was set at $12,000 with a court date scheduled for Monday.

A Greeneville woman was charged Saturday with drug possession.

29-year-old Karen Roberts of Shane Street was found passed out in a vehicle.

When police responded, she was in an apparent intoxicated state.

Syringes were found in the door panel of the vehicle along with roxicodone tablets.

Roberts was charged with possession of schedule 2 drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and DUI 1st offense.

Bond was set at $3,000 with a court date scheduled for Monday.

A Bulls Gap woman was arrested Saturday on drug charges following a traffic stop on Highway 11-E.

Nancy Denise Trent of Walters Drive had several different pain medications in her vehicle.

She was charged with felony possession of schedule 2 and 4 drugs, simple possession of schedule 4 drugs and driving on a revoked license.

Bond was set at $13,000 with a court date scheduled for Monday.

A woman was arrested Saturday on burglary charges.

31-year-old Dana Renee Evans, whose address is listed as unknown, was charged following a theft at a Fairview Drive residence.

The Greene County Sheriff's Department responded to a report of a burglary.

Evans was found with items that she allegedly stole from the residence.

During a pat-down search of Evans, a glass pipe was found.

Evans was charged with burglary and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Bond was set at $2,000.

A court date is scheduled for Monday.

Midway Man Arrested On Marijuana Possession Charges

A Midway man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after postal inspectors along with members of the 3rd judicial drug task force seized a package containing more than 10 pounds of marijuana.
The marijuana was mailed from Arizona in a plastic tub.
Michael Baker of Summerhaven Road in Midway was arrested and charged with Possession of Schedule 6 Drugs.
Baker's bond was set at $90,000.

Four people were arrested Friday on drug charges.

The Greeneville Police Department responded to the parking lot of Greeneville Light & Power after receiving a call regarding a possible drug transaction.

Police observed an apparent drug transaction between 19-year-old Michael Thomas Turner of Mountain Valley Road, Mohawk and 44-year-old James Guinn of Little Warrensburg Road, Midway.

Turner along with 20-year-old Heather Gilbert of Glades Road, Mosheim and 31-year-old Michael Evens of Oasis Road, Bulls Gap were charged with party to the offense of felony attempt to deliver roxicodone, a schedule 2 drug.

Guinn was charged with felony attempt to possess roxicodone.

Bond was set at $10,000 for Tuner, Evens and Guinn.

Bond was set at $75,000 for Gilbert.

All four are due in court on Monday.
