Possible Animal Neglect

If you were concerned that a neighbor who thinks you are just out to get them is not feeding and caring for their animals properly...would you do anything about it? If you would do something...what and how? Neighbor has dogs (more than 2), cats (lots!), 3 horses, 2 rabbits, and 2 small chickens (if they are still alive?).... I am not out to get my neighbor I just feel sorry for the animals...I have one cat and she is a spoiled rotten house cat:) I don't want legal problems or more problems with my neighbor....

It is sad when irresponsible animal owners do not adequately provide for their pets and it tends to put the caring neighbor in an uncomfortable position. But with that being said, who but you will speak up for the alleged neglected animals? Contact your animal control officer or local Humane Society and they may be able to assist you with your concerns. Bless you for caring for the plight of abused or neglected animals. You are a good citizen.

I have told animal control but not humane society, last week I contacted animal control 2 days in row due to her 3 goats in my yard and in road. I previously contacted animal control more than once for dog. Now I am trying to get the cats to animal control because it is sad to have a cat come cry at your house...they are hungry. I can't take them. Not able to afford them and there is too many:( my cat has special prescription diet which is lots more expensive than cat food from Walmart...she never goes hungry and gets clean water daily. Also you will never smell a dirty litter box in my house...hers is cleaned daily.

I had a similar situation a couple of years ago. I'm glad I spoke up because I saved those dogs. The investigator told me in a couple of more days the dogs might not have made it. You will have to go to the humane society to file a formal report. They will not except a complaint via phone. The report will then be faxed to their investigator. You are kept anonymous.
You are the animals only voice!

did the neighbor figure out you were the one who reported them? my neighbor and I don't get along because she was "embarrassed" and tried to tell me what to do on my property... she will probably figure out that it is me. did the person you report get in legal trouble? I don't really want her to get in legal trouble she has a child....but I don't agree with way she does her animals. I would not do my cat that way...when I go on vacation I have someone come in daily to check on my cat and I am always concerned about leaving her but she would not do well in a boarding situation either...she is 17 years old and I can not even imagine leaving her for long period of times without someone looking in on her...my neighbor just does not seem to really love and care for her animals. I may try going by the Humane Society....
