Well that would give the religious leaders a reason to bring out a new sermon and they could call every one who went there low-life sinners.
The patrons who go there are only there because the women in this area have forgotten that life can be fun if you work at it.

Greeneville needs a lot of diverse businesses to keep it's dollars spent locally rather than in the Tri-Cities, Knoxville, Asheville, etc. although there seems little to no interest in the area by potential investors. I don't think the town does a very good job at promoting itself nor do most of the residents seem to care either.

The biggest need that I see is the need for a store specializing in cheese, to go with that whine from so many of the Topix posters.

I wasn't trying to whine. I am very serious about and interested in the opinion of the community in witch we live. Greeneville appears to be dying and I think it is up to the community to cure itself, with cooperation and hard work the people of this town, not the government, will make the needed improvements .

nothing new would thrive in this town of old creatures of habit. Another mickey d's, thrift store, subway, or title loan would make it here.

So you are content with the way this city has "grown"? Says a lot.

I accept it for what it is, and always will be. The educational level here doesn't lend itself to high paying jobs and economic growth. That also goes for the work ethic. By the way, I have lived in several different states. It isn't all a bowl of cherries on the other side of the fence.

Our officials allow the people to be exploited.Low pay and get rich and close shop businesses. Education isn't the issue there are people with degrees working in pizza hut.

According to The Center for College Affordability and Productivity, nearly one half of recent college graduates are working in jobs that don't require a Bachelor's degree. 38% of recent college grads are working in jobs that don't even require a high school diploma. 284,000 recent college grads are working for minimum wage. That represents a 70% increase compared to 10 years ago.

I guess that our local officials must allow people to be exploited all over the country, because it isn't a problem confined to Greeneville. College grads are working at Pizza Hut throughout the U.S.

Come on ! Maybe it's not the town that's dying but the people.
Surely somebody has an idea hidden way back in their mind, it doesn't matter if you think it won't work, tell me about it. There just might be somebody out there that knows how to make it work , they just need you to mention it to get the ball rolling. There goes another chicken, in sun glasses even!

I'm curious...why the interest in ideas? Are you someone in a position to start a business, stimulate economic growth, chamber and/or partnership member, etc. or simply asking for the sake of discussion?

Yep, sounds like the solution to Greeneville's woes...chickens in flip flops and sunglasses. Pitiful.
