Common Sense

United States

The town needs to approach a few of the larger landscape and grounds keeping guys in town and see if they would be willing to manicure and fix up some of the medians and common areas, especially along the bypass. Other small towns do this in exchange for allowing the company to place a few small signs stating "Landscaping Provided By ****". This is a win-win for the city and the landscaper, as the city gets an improved image and the landscape company gets advertising.

Just a small step, but would really make things look much better.

The town looked better twenty years ago. We are in big trouble. No industry to support the town. Greeneville will continue the decline until it gets new leadership.

If you read some of the old posts on Topix about the Magnavox plant, you'll read some things that would never make you to want to buy a Magnavox product ever.

How can employees "brag" about leaving left over lunches in product, being stoned / drunk on the job, having sex in the parking lot, complaining about having supervisors actually demand that they do their job and expect any other company to relocate here?

When companies relocate, don't you think that they use ALL available resources to evaluate the location they are going to? This includes (unfortunately for Greene County) Topix. The things that are posted on this site are available for everyone, including those who make relocation decisions.

With what's posted on here, and the track record for companies that were located here, if I was manager for recommending a site for relocation, this wouldn't be one.

Far too many potential employees seem to want to come to work to have a good time. There's a difference between "work" and "fun". I'm not sure how much of the employee base in this county understands that.

Will our property taxes bring money in to get someone to pay attention to our right of way maintenance?
Why no it want. It's just more money for their pockets.

Please contact commissioners and alderman. Ask them to step up
and bring in opportunities. We need visibility. Many opportunities have been here this summer - reunions, special events but no economical development for Greeneville that is effective to save us now.

This town needs work, but the people that lives here could help a lot if they would not throw their trash all over the roadways, and take care of their on yards, and i have been over at the park and seen people putting trash in the trash can and if its full they would just pile it on top and let it fall all over the place. But people all and all we have a great town to live in,i have been in some big cities, that is really bad,the people that lives in them would think we were crazy talking bad about Greeneville,Im proud to say i am from GREENEVILLE,TN.

If something doesn't happen soon, you are right, you are going to really get to say I am from Greeneville from somewhere else. We hope to see you thurs morn at the Main st summit. Greeneville is not going to survive with 50 new jobs and 200++ new drug users in the next 2 years. More taxes to support a new jail may be the nail in the coffin???? Tourism - a few visitors here today gone tomorrow -with gas prices soaring, fewer!! Now what?? Greene County is not a tourism area, we are manufacturing community. Our young people are going where the jobs are like they did in 50's when young people went to Detroit and Cleveland for jobs. Oops I forgot, we now have robbery and selling drugs - don't need jobs???

This county has been Republican for far too long. They stand for the rich get richer, and the poor get poorer. It's been like that for so long here, the middle man is disappearing and the poor is unable to survive.
But keep on voting for that coveted 1%... you'll soon see the 1% can not exist without the support of the 99%. Unfortunately, you all can't seem to see the consequences of your actions/votes until it is too late.
OMG. I'm sitting here thinking the same thing about Democraps. I can't understand how any working citizen can vote for a Democrap? All Democraps want to do is take from the working person (notice my political correctness) and give to deadbeats and illegals. Why do you want to work all day to "raise" all these non-working people?

NAFTA is the North American Free Trade Agreement. Some of our jobs did go to Canada and Mexico, but that's not the real proble.

China is the real problem and unfortunately Democrap nor republican are going to put a stop to China. Just like when you go to Johnson City and spend your money, that's money leaving Greeneville. America's money is going to China and to the oil producing countries. If something doesn't change, America will be a third world country one day.
