They allow you to borrow cash for an item of value. Then you pay a small percentage back and you have your item back. How is it that a bad thing? If you lost something to a pawn shop, it's business. I have been there, so I know where you are coming from. But, you can't blame pawn shops.

you cant pawn something wait a year and go in and get it back free, you have to make payments. if they kept it you did not pay them back . read the pawn ticket next time you need money and before you sign it, it explains it all to ya.

Yes, I lost my money when I thought I was buying a decent air sander. When I tried to use it, I found that it was about worn out. The shop would not give me a refund.

I knew a girl who pawned an expensive wedding set because her family fell on hard times. She went the Morning after last day she could pick up, they even knew she was coming. The door was locked, she could see them inside but they would not come to the door to let her in. Little did she know but they were selling her ring to a guy who came from out of town to scarf up the better stuff while she waited for them to open. Again, they knew she would be there when the store opened! Although technically they didn't do anything illegal, it sure was low down especially since they KNEW she was coming with the money to get it, they saw her waiting outside, but would not open the door and sold to that other guy for more money! Dirty dealings!

A little HEARTLESS, yes. But 'dirty dealings'? No. Even if she went in only a minute after the contracted hour, sorry, it's theirs. And once it's legally theirs, they don't have any obligation to her and can do with it as they see fit. Sad, but true.

Well, I think it was dirty dealings if they knew she was coming & promised her they would wait & then sold to the guy who routinely buys from them. As I stated, nothing illegal on their part, just immoral/unethical based on her particular circumstances.

they steal everything! I got my laptop charger stolen...seriously...my neighbor pawned my charger..I hate those pillheads. I got asked by two pillheads for my hydrocodone after I had my baby and of course I had to lie and tell then I didn't get my prescription since I am breastfeeding...otherwise they would kick my door down! I feel for people with addictions..but its discusting how they satisfy them...prostitute yourself before you steal from an innocent person...at least then you are only hurting yourself! crazy pillheads...I hope your jewelry wasn't something sentimental at least
